5 wks preggo and sinus infection! Any remedies

I'm about 5 wks preggo and I'm pretty sure I have a sinus infection or something like that. I haven't called my dr yet. I was hoping to feel better in a couple days. I tried the saline sinus rinse to relieve congestion and I'm also achey and hot and cold no fever. Is there any other home remedies I can try? I'm pretty sure meds are not good now right? I would live any suggestions. Thanks

I had the same thing when I got pregnant with DS and this time too. I asked my ob what I could take and he said he didn't want to prescribe anything unless I was dying or had a fever. He said Sudafed is safe to take but not this early. He told me I could use Afrin nose spray and take Tylenol. It was rough for a while but finally went away! Feel better!

I've lived on Extra Strength Tylenol for most of what ails me during this pregnancy...

Sinuses - Tylenol
Cold - Tylenol
Sore throat - Tylenol

You get the idea. Feel better!

netty pot helped with the pressure- also sudafed and benadryl were on my safe drug lists- I would check with your OB to be sure because they all seem to have different options

also am I crazy but I think I recall hearing that you dont share a blood line until 6 weeks-- so I would think whatever you use now would be ok

Thanks for the help. I'm going to take Tylenol and hopefully that helps some. I have a sono Thursday so I will ask then if I'm still not feeling good. But I pray I am. Ah the joys of pregnancy. No meds and no cold cuts are killing me.

I took antibiotics for a sinus infection that was causing deafness in my ear. I was 6 weeks. I'm now 32 weeks and baby is just fine. Hope you feel better!

You prob need a z-pak (antibiotic) if you have an actual infection...its safe, given very frequently for diff infections in pregnancy! Talk to your doc...I had to go on it twice this pregnancy, once for sinus infection and once for upper resp. I was so happy to know it's safe and I felt 100 times better within 24 hours!

I was on antibiotics when I was pregnant and my dd is perfect. Your dr should be able to prescribe something.

I had that last month. Doctor recommended giving it time to pass and taking either tylenol orbenedryl.

In 7days, I was was feeling better but still had a lingering cough and stuffy nose (but no more infection). A week later, I was fine.

Fresh air.lots of liquids. Sleeping on an incline. And not sleeping directly near the a/c or fan help!

Just talked to my dr ofc they said to take robbitussin dm of I wasn't going to go to my primary care which I have to get one. I have sono Tomorrow so ill wait and see. Thanks for all the suggestions.

At 28 weeks I had a severe sinus infection and I was prescribed a
Z-Pack. The doctor said it is safe. If its an infection nothing else will work other than antibiotics.

I just had one at 36 weeks, OY!

I did the sinus rinse and took a z-pack

Hope it goes away soon!
