Re: feel like there is a never a good time to announce pregnancy....(dont quote please)
You're right, there's never a good time for any life changing event like this.
However, you and DH need to decide what time works best for you guys. Remember, life happens when you're making other plans.
For our situation, we COULD have told DH's family at a superbowl party but that was about 3 weeks shy of my NT scan and I wasn't comfortable with it. We just called/texted people. As for my side, we called my 2 Aunts and 1 of my cousins. I wouldn't have called my cousin but I knew her daughter who's 7ish would LOVE to spread the news to the rest of the family (she's been asking from the day we got married if we were pregnant lol) so I had to get her permission first.
At the 12w scan I was still so sick with MS that I really didn't care how we told everyone and in what order we did it as long as the immediate people (mom's, and my Aunts knew). Yes it would have been great to see everyone's reactions but honestly, I didn't care at that point lol.
No matter when you tell this news or any other type of news, there are going to be those happy for you and those not so "happy" for you.

A new baby is a blessing. Just because they may be overwhelmed with one baby (difficult or not), doesn't mean they won't be happy for you. Assuming you are two competent people. This baby is YOURS, not theirs. I just cannot fathom anyone's reaction to be disappointed.

And if anyone ever has a reaction similar to, "shit, ANOTHER baby". Then they would never, ever see that baby if it were up to me.

maybe i am just thinking too far ahead...but at some point child care will come up. and we are *hoping* that for the first 12-18 months the grandparents can watch the baby a few days a week....so i just think while they will be excited a bit, they will also start thinking how it will affect them.
if its a big deal, we will just do daycare sooner than we wanted to (wanted to wait till 18 months). i guess we'll just wait and see....

You have no way to know how everything will play out in the next few months. Tell them and just focus on right now, not 9 months from now.
I can't imagine they will be anything but thrilled for you.

I would just tell them now before everyone goes out of town. Having a baby is a blessing!
