Would you feel bad if your neighbor did not invite both your children to a birthday party?

We recently started hanging out with a neighbor on the next block. They only have 1 child (same age as DS#1). We always play altogether. My kids are 2yo and 4yo. We just got a birthday party invitation with only DS#1's name.

Would you feel bad if your neighbor did not invite both your children?

I know I probably should not take it personally but I feel bad for DS#2. He loves playing with this neighbor. I do not think it is a space issue because they are having it at My Gym and I know the family does not have a lot of friends with young kids.

No, I wouldnt.

For instance my friend has a 6yo. I have a 5 and a 2yo. Only my 5yo was invited to the party. I never thought twice about it.

If I invited all the younger siblings for all my DS's friends, I would nearly double all my guest lists. Besides the cost honestly it just makes parties get too chaotic.

Since they don't have another LO, they are probably only thinking of inviting their DC's peers (i.e. your older son). I understand feeling a little badly about your little guy being left out, but don't let it stop you from attending (not that you said it would!).

We also don't have many friends with kids, but when you count up all the siblings, you can easily go over on numbers.

That and the activities 2 and 4 year olds do is very different (we've taken our 2 year old to quite a few 4 year old parties and he just couldn't participate).

All that being said, I always try to invite siblings so it's more of a family thing. You can ask your neighbor if the little one can tag along if you are super close and it is very important to you. It wasn't anything personal.

no, because if they invited one younger kid they might have a bunch of people annoyed when they show up at the party... also they can probably do more older kid stuff without little kids in the way, I know that was the issue the place we went with told us(although I had no problem with siblings coming.

At other places I agree that a 2yo and 4yo have different activities but this is My Gym. 4yo is on the older range to have a bday party there. We have been to 10+ parties at My Gym this year (mostly for 2yo's classmates). We also had 2yo's birthday party there.

I just feel bad because we play together all the time. I feel bad for my DS#2. Of course I would not mind if she did not know my DS#2. It is the first time both my kids were not invited to a party when we are family friends. We have had their whole family over a few times for bbq. They are new friends though. We just met them this year.

i wouldnt mind. Even if my younger could participate in the party. You dont know how many extra people would ahve to be added to the list if she invited all siblings the cost could nearly be double for the party.
