Do you feed your baby sitter?
I just started using a 20 year old girl once a week from 4-7pm. She said not to worry about having dinner for her because she's a picky vegetarian but I still feel like I need to have something for her. What do you do?

I tell them they are welcome to anything, I name a few specific things we have (chips, soda, brownies) and leave at that.

When I care for kids the parents always say "help yourself to whatevers in the fridge" I also prepare melas so I just eat what I make them. I say the same when someone is watching my kids.

Yes, they are welcome to whatever we have to eat. They usually eat what our kids eat. I always notice some extra snacks are eaten too.

If its a once in awhile thing Id have stuff and ask what they like. If it's a regular thing I'd just have snacks they can help them selves to and they usually bring their own lunch. My sister used to bring her own lunch and snacks but I also offered her whatever I had. I eat pretty much the same things every day and DH eats at work so we never have anything all that exciting for lunch/dinner foods. Sometimes when my mom babysits I have her pick up Panera for us and pay.

Re: Do you feed your baby sitter?
Our nanny is welcome to anything we have, but she brings her own food usually. As gracious as we appear to be it actually annoys me when she eats our stuff in excess. A carton of OJ can last over a week in our house....if she's around it's gone in 3 days.
But yes, I would tell your sitter she's welcome to anything!

i would tell her to help herself to anything you have. i would also ask her if there are specific snacks or items she would like you to keep around for her (fruits/veggies).

thanks for all the responses. I did ask if there was anything she likes or wants but she said not to worry about her. I think she's still trying to make a good impression (even though I know her family for years) but once we get more comfortable maybe she'll let me know. Until then I'll just make sure I have something.

funny you say that....my cousin was watching DD the other night and as i was getting ready to leave i told her what was in the fridge and to help herself. then i added, feel free to take a beer if you want what!?! why would i say that to my babysitter?!?! DH immediately laughed and in front of her said yes lets get our babysitter drunk
she laughed too thankfully and did not help herself to a beer

Re: Do you feed your baby sitter?
I really wouldn't worry about it considering its three hours once a week.
