ttc + bfing - xpost from TTC board
Hi all - My son is now 20.5 months old and we are STILL nursing... a little more frequently than I would like but overall I am still pretty happy to do it. However, I haven't gotten my period back at all. I keep thinking its coming and then it never does. DH and I are ttc and I am pretty sure I'm not fertile again yet. Anyone have any experience getting pregnant while nursing and without a period? Any tips for bringing aunt flo back (other than weaning).

I'm not sure there's much you can do aside from weaning, or at least cutting back. DD is 15 months and I haven't gotten AF back either. She's been down to twice a day for at least a month and I'm in the process of cutting out the morning. It's tough bc it's the first time I've really initiated dropping a feeding which stinks. The only thing pushing me to wean is to get AF back. I just spoke to my ob and he said most likely I won't get AF until she's totally weaned at this point and even then it could take a few months. Stinks!

you can ovulate while breastfeeding but i am pretty sure you have to wait for your body to start up again. 20 months is a long time, although i've heard some women didn't get their period again until they started weaning. i didn't get my first PP period until 12 months when DS cut back a little on nursing. he didn't completely wean until 17 months. you could try watching your basal body temperature or using an ovulation kit to see if you will be ovulating soon.
