Question about registry

I want to register for my 2nd dc. We found out the sex but im not ready to reveal until after my 20 week sono. There are some items id like new bc my last registry was 3 1/2 years ago. My question is can i register n not make it public? Or once i register will it come up if people were to search my name? Thanks
Also is it better to register in person or online?

Re: Question about registry

I would imagine it would only show up if a person went to the store website & typed your name in. Otherwise they'd never know you have a registry if you don't tell them. I don't know if there's a way to make a registry "private" so only you can see it... but then what would be the point of making one at all?
I liked registering online because I couldn't be bothered with going through all the aisles at the store & I wanted to see the reviews (online), but I think it's just personal preference.

Re: Question about registry

Im probably just going to do it online.. Good point about seeing the reviews.

I wanted to start my registry but bc im not sayin the sex yet i didnt want people to know until after 20 weeks. Once i kno for sure then the world can see it since i'm out of hiding. Lol

oh that makes sense!
What if you make one under a fake name (like how people use fake names on FB so as not to be found lol) just for your own record, and then when you're ready, make a registry with your real name for people to see & put all the same items on it.

That's a good idea. I don't think there is any way to make it private.

Re: Question about registry

I would wait until after your 20w appointment to start registering. There is no reason to do it before hand, especially because inventory changes so quickly. Some items may be available now, and gone in a few weeks,

I registered at 22w and had to alter my registry at least 3-4 times to keep up with things that became "no longer available".

Re: Question about registry

In my first pregnancy 3 years ago, I started a registry at like 12-14wks or so because I was really excited. Of course that's SOOO early, so I did not want to make it public and I believe at least with BBB anyway, I had that option. I registered in the store and there was something I checked off to make it public or not. There's definitely a way.

Re: Question about registry

When I went to register at BBB recently I wanted a private registry bc I knew it would take a couple of days to finish registering and I didn't want family and friends to buy anything until I was finished. The woman said they don't have a private option but that I could create a registry under a fake name and then switch it once I was finished.

Re: Question about registry

During my last pregnancy, I created our BBB registry under a fake name. When I was ready to reveal it, i just changed the name it was under.

Re: Question about registry

You can make a private Amazon one. BBB and BRU do not have that option unless you register and not tell anyone or use a fake name
