Meeting with high risk Dr. before TTC

I have been advised to meet with Dr. El Kady (high risk ob/perinatologist) before I get pregnant again as I had severe preeclampsia with my first and only pregnancy. If you had a pre-conception consultation, what was it like?

I did this because of my heart issues and my pre-existing blood pressure. The doctor outlined what my pregnancy would look like in terms of care, how often I would be seen and by whom, what medications they would have me take from the start, and she answered any questions I had. It was really helpful for me as this is my first pregnancy. She also went through what the unknowns would be (we don't know if I'll be able to go into labor or if I'll be induced, we hope that I can deliver vaginally but it may not happen, etc.) It really was just a consultation. She did also outline the potential risks and how they would work to make sure we were aware of everything going on (risk of baby having the same heart condition I have, fetal echo to monitor for this, as well as the potential risk of added stress on my heart and the need for regular cardiac check ups throughout pregnancy). It was all informational.
