DS has been spitting up milk...

We use Goodstart.

Lately he's been spitting up his milk. Sometimes it's a lot and sometimes it's a little. He's not crying when he spits up.

I just don't know why he's spitting up so much lately. He never did before...

He could be drinking to much. My DD spit up a lot because she was drinking to much. You might want to swith the formula to Enfamil AR--it has added rice to make the formula thicker sometimes that helps.

Re: DS has been spitting up milk...

Maybe he is drinking too much of it...he does take 6-7 ounces at a feeding.

That seems to be like a lot of formula for his age. How often do you feed him? DS also spit up alot but it was constant and all day and I switced to the Enfamil A.R. and it is so much better. The only time he spits up now is if I move him around to much to soon after he eats. Before switching formulas I would try to let him sit on you for 5-10 minutes before you burp him and then keep him up for anotehr 10-15 minutes after that.

He gets approx. 4 feedings a day at 6-7 ounces each. Maybe he's being overfed? but 24-30 oz. withing 24 hrs. is a normal intake for him for a baby his age.

According to books - I would see if you can wean him down a little. I have with Ali and she is hardly spitting up now.

I would try to give him 4-5 oz every 3 hours instead. Luka was eating 5 oz the most at that age and he would have about 28oz a day. Each month I would increase it an ouce. Now at 5 months he eats 7oz every 3 hours between 6:30am and 6pm.

Re: DS has been spitting up milk...

Maybe I should just do 6 oz...every four hours...

Is 24 oz enough for the day...

I think 24 to 28 oz is a good amount. I kept a journal when I switched to formula and around that age that is how much he drank.

I heard him do this little burp just now and I could smell the milk coming up in this mouth but he didn't spit anything up. I opened his mouth and saw a little milk but nothing came out this time and now I don't see anymore milk.

She eats about every 3 1/2 to 4 hours. She has about 5 - 6 oz a feeding.

Re: DS has been spitting up milk...

So DS had a feeding at 7 am and had 6oz. I tried to feed him 3 hours later and did not want to eat anymore after 4 ounces. I think I screwed up...

Re: DS has been spitting up milk...

He was crying and arching his back. AR has never been an issue with him so I don't think it's that. Cuz when he spits up he doesn't cry.

He does rip them and burps a few times on his own. Maybe I should give him the mylacon drops again.
