Skytop Lodge in PA
DH and I just came back from spending 3 days and 2 nights at Skytop Lodge for our babymoon and had a great time.
I looked on here for reviews and thoughts but never really found anything so I figured I'd type something up quickly here.
Although this is a pricey place, we got a voucher through travelzoo for 398- (avg. rates are 400 or so p.night) for 2 nights (we stayed Sun-Tues). This included 3 meals a day at the restaurant. (Normally this is an all-inclusive place)
It's about a 2 1/2 hour drive from Nassau. Although I am 7 months pregnant I was still able to ride bikes around the grounds (not all 5500 acres of it lol), go lawn bowling, had a prenatal massage, go swimming in the pool, and just hang out on the porch in rockers for awhile reading. They have a million activities and this resort is 100% kid/family friendly. However, since everything is so spread out we never ever felt like we were on top of anyone, weren't bothered by the kids at all, and had plenty of activities to keep us occupied. The food in the restaurant was also very good. The rooms were also very nice. If anyone is familiar with Shawnee time shares in the poconos this is about 30 minutes away from there. DH described it as "Shawnee on steroids" lol. Picture something similar to the setting for the movie dirty dancing.
Overall It. Was. Awesome. I hope that we can go back in the future with our kids (and maybe other friends/family).

this is great to hear. I know someone who works there and can't wait to be able to schedule some time to go visit!

My FH's company books at Skytop once a year and they stay for 3 nights. He always raves that it's amazing. They do a clam bake one night and a bonfire, golfing, etc. The pictures I've seen always look so awesome. Glad you enjoyed it! Maybe we'll look into it for a getaway after the wedding

great to know! how do you think the place would be in the cold weather? we were thinking of getting our folks an overnight stay there for their anniversary.

I asked our waitress at dinner what the "quiet season" was and she said it's def during winter. I think it really depends on what type of people your parents are. During the winter season they have a tabogon (sp?) run, ice skating, dog sledding, skiing, and I think horse and carriage rides somewhere. As for inside, the place is all decked out in wood with several fire places around so I imagine it's a great spot to just sit, relax, and read a book or whatever. There's also the indoor pool available as well as the spa.

Re: Skytop Lodge in PA
Thanks for posting. I'm always looking for quick, not too far getaways and this seems like a great option.
