So as some of you know I was diagnosed last week with DOR last week after thinking for almost a year I was treating PCOS. I was really a mess last week after I got the diagnosis, but am now more focused and ready to handle this head on. I have a few questions and would love to hear from those of you who have dealt with DOR.

Given that I have poor egg quality (I produce a decent amount of follies with just Clomid)....The RE is recommending I go straight to IVF and stop anymore IUIs. I have done 2 IUIs with Clomid and HCG shots. My gut is telling me to go straight to IVF with injectibles, but I was curious on your own experiences???

They didn't check my AMH until almost a year of treatment and failed IUIs. If I had to do it over again, I would have had RE check AMH in the beginning and I feel like I would have done IVF sooner. It is such a tough decision bc nothing is guaranteed and its an expensive "gamble".

Best of luck to you!!!!!!!

I think you should try 1 iui with injectables just so the doctor could have some idea of how you respond to injectables and what dose he can start you when you start your IVF. I know you said you respond well to clomid but I would try 1 round with iui/injectables. Good luck!

Fortunately money for IVF is not my concern. I am fortunate to have great insurance and get up to $50,000 in coverage. If money were an issue I may be more reluctant to begin IVF. It's funny you mentioned the AMH test because I never had it done either. My new RE just gave me a script to have it done.

Re: D.O.R.

So awesome that you have coverage for it!!!!! I agree with prev. poster....try an injectable cycle. But I definitely wouldnt waste too much time with the IUI especially since IVF is covered.

How did they diagnose you with DOR? Was is from your other hormone levels? My AMH is low but all my other hormones are good, but they still said I have low reserves

I agree with the PP.. I would try an IUI with injectables before going to IVF (especially if you respond to clomid and have insurance). I also would hold off until you get your AMH #s. Good luck!!!

They said my estrovil was high (not very when I compared the ranges). FMH seems to be in the right range. He felt that the high estrovil was indicating DOR. We're doing the AMH testing just to confirm it's DOR. I also have PCOS (or according to my dr I had PCOS at some point).

Re: D.O.R.

I have DOR. When I did IVF last year, my first cycle was cancelled due to poor response. Second cycle, I was on super high stims. The result of that cycle is my 4 month old DD.

You should check with your insurance when it comes to coverage for injectibles. Some have a cap on the number of times they'll allow you to get meds. For instance: my insurance covers 3 fresh cycles of IVF. Since my first cycle was cancelled, I have 2 cycles left. However, they'll only fill injectibles script one more time.

ETA: I would move on to IVF in your situation.

If you have IVF coverage and DOR I would go straight to IVF. Dont waste time with an injectable cycle. If you are producing follicles with clomid then there is something else going on. I did 6 IUI's with only clomid/femara cause I produced 1-2 follicles each time all BFN's.

Good luck!!!

My issue doesn't seem to be the amount of follicles I can produce but the quality of them. I think I'm going to skip another IUI and go straight to IVF.

Does anyone have empire government insurance?
