Anything to help with sciatica?
I've had mild sciatica on and off for a while already but now it's a regular, constant thing. I have to climb 3 flights of stairs at work daily, which is awful. Add on the subway stairs every day, and by the time I get home I very seriously consider taking the elevator to my 2nd floor apartment. It's mostly in my right butt/thigh/hip area. Is there anything I can do to help it?

I had this issue and went for a message on the leg that was bothering it. It did help. It is absolutely the worst pain.

Re: Anything to help with sciatica?
my doctor told me to try hamstring stretches. he also told me to try this stretch: envision yourself in a chair and that chair tips backwards. assume that position in the floor, with your legs resting on a chair or couch for support. to be honest, these stretches did not help me at all, but maybe they will for you. what has worked to a degree is tylenol and the heating pad. good luck. it really sucks!

Stretching and massaging... preferably jon doing the massaging or someone fairly strong...
lay on the floor/bed and pull your knee up towards your chest go to the side since your awesome belly is now in the way

Stretching and massaging. My sciatica with this pregnancy has been horrible, and after doing some of the stretching exercises on spinningbabies.com, has been MUCH better.

I stretch my legs every night. I'm not sure if its working, but I figure it can't hurt to try.

Re: Anything to help with sciatica?
I went to a physical therapist for a massage and she worked on that area and within an hour I was feeling FANTASTIC!
She also told me to put a tennis ball where the pain was and lean it up against the wall and roll up and down while leaning on it and I did that a few minutes every morning and before I went to bed.

This. It's also helped me with Charlie horses.

Re: Anything to help with sciatica?
I had sciatica early in my pregnancy. As soon as DH purchased a Snoogle pillow for me, it literally went away. I haven't had it since 5 months or so.

Re: Anything to help with sciatica?
I highly rec chiro too! I go every week sometimes twice & it really helps. My dr showed me some really good stretches to do at home & while I'm sitting in my chair @ work. Try to find a chiro who specializes in seeing pregnant women. The table is so comfy.
