I failed the one hour amongst other things
I got a triple whammy from my doc today. I failed the one hour glucose test, so going back for the 3 hour :( Then he tells me I have to increase my iron intake because I'm severely anemic AND I need to take in more calcium too I am an emotional wreck today and I'm at work receiving this news ugh

Re: I failed the one hour amongst other things
I failed the 1hr and passed the 3hr and I've also been anemic this entire pregnancy. It's VERY common. Just take supplements and your level should go up! In the grand scheme of things, it's nothing to stress. Just keep your fingers crossed that you pass the 3hr and if you don't, you'll deal with it then.
I failed the 1hr by a lot and was convinced I'd have GD- but nope!

Re: I failed the one hour amongst other things
Honestly, even if you fail the 3 hour and have GD, it isn't that bad...I have GD and I control mine completely with diet (I didn't even need to change my diet) and the nutritionist wants me to eat more than I eat currently.
The anemia I don't have any experience with, but I would try to eat iron rich foods, which are good for you anyway, along with the supplements.
I had to add more calcium into my diet as well, and the nutritionist helped me to find the highest calcium foods so that I didn't have to eat too many extra things. I thought some things had lots of calcium because they were dairy, but they actually weren't as good as I thought.

I'm so happy to hear u passed the 3 hour This keeps my hopes up because the doc made it sound like this was bad.....I have never had a problem with my sugar but always had a problem with low iron which I always tried to keep under control. Now that I have to increase the dose I'm thinking the worse, sorry for TMI, constipation mainly!!

Thanks so much for the information
I always had a fear being pregnant and having complications...I'm hoping that I pass the 3 hour I guess I will just have to see what happens and take it step by step....the way you dealt with GD makes me feel a little better its possible to keep it under control! Thanks!

I actually take this (click link)
You should ask your dr about it. My high risk recommended it recently because the prescription one I was taking wasn't effective and was very expensive.
I've been on it for a few weeks now and as u can see, it says its non constipating. It's supposedly a better form of iron that's more easily absorbed, it can be taken with food or without.
Is it perfect? Well. You're pregnant. You're gonna get constipated for all sorts of reasons - but I don't think this adds to the problem at least and I'm on 2 a day. The reviews are also pretty great.
