Do i need an internal
So not that i think it will be fun, but if i havent had an internal yet, 38 weeks, do i ask for one? Are they necessary? I mean all they do is give you a heads up right? Im not being careless if i dont get any right? I assume the drs are on top of their game so im not stressed but read all your posts about them and was wondering

Re: Do i need an internal
I see the sb midwives and they don't do internals. Their view on it is that internals are not necessary. Internals can stir things up prematurely or give some women a sense of false hope that they will go in to labor soon. So no worries!

Re: Do i need an internal
I wish I was in the same boat, my OB is going to start internals at my next appt! (in 2 weeks when I'll be just shy of 36w).

NOOOOO you do NOT have to have them. They are NOT medically necessary. I declined them until my 40th week. Like OP said they give you false hopes and can cause anxiety. Its totally up to you...you can be 2,3,4 or more cm & cervix can be thinned for weeks. When body is ready to labor you will DEF know. Good Luck!

Re: Do i need an internal
You definitely don't need an internal but if you are curious ask the office's policy on internals.

You don't NEED one but if you want one you can DEF ask for one. I've been getting them since my 36 week appt. Since 38 weeks I've been 1cm, 70% effaced, and head down but cervix is still high so it's been frustrating knowing that nothing is happening but then again I like knowing (I'm a type A and the "not knowing" drives me NUTS).
