Disney Cruise Staterooms

We are back to the Disney Cruise on the newer boat, Fantasy. We want to book a deluxe family room with balcony.

Can someone explain the difference between a 4A/B/C compared to a 5A/B/C?

The obvious choice seems to be the larger 299sf room with the oversized balcony. There are other rooms that are more expensive with the same sf and smaller balcony. Am I missing something?

Cruising is not my preferred way of travel but I think it will be fun to do the Disney cruise with the kids. This will be the first cruise we will go on since becoming parents.

I know there is also the forward, midship and aft cabins. Midship tend to be a little more expensive! Also, it depends on the deck too...you could be on deck 6 or deck 10!

I was looking at the available rooms and they were all over the place. I'm sure the more expensive rooms are due to better location but they were scattered between different decks. I could not figure it out.

I guess I have to assume that the more expensive rooms have a better view. The difference between the cheapest and most expensive room in this deluxe room with balcony category is about $1000 for the week.

Re: Disney Cruise Staterooms

We had a 5d on the dream. It was suprisingly bigger than I had expected. It got a little tight at night once the pack and play was set up but it was fine.

We were on deck 6 room 6524. It was super quiet and we could see the fireworks from our balcony. Just below us on deck 5 were rooms with the extended balcony. For us I can't see the benefit of that.

I would suggest you head to the disboard forums. Those people can give you crazy detailed info on each category.

Re: Disney Cruise Staterooms

I can help!

Category 4s and 5s are both Verandah staterooms.

Category 4s are Deluxe Oceanview FAMILY Verandah staterooms which means they are larger. They are 299 sq. ft versus the category 5s which are 246 sq ft.

As far as the letters go, the lower the letter, the "better" the category and more expensive. A 4A is on a higher deck than a 4D. A higher deck is considered more desirable, but it may not be right for you.

One advantage of working with an agent is getting help choosing the right stateroom for you. Maybe you want an aft stateroom and there are no more aft rooms available in category 4B so you will go to 4B for example.

I'm happy to help. I love Disney Cruise Line!

Re: Disney Cruise Staterooms

Sorry I realized I didn't full answer your question.

A lot of people, including MTT's own Kimberly Hill love the oversize balcony staterooms. The difference is that your space comes from the verandah, and you lose some space inside the room. These rooms also tend to not have the round tubs of the other category 4 staterooms. Originally these were category 5 rooms and are comparable inside to other category 5 rooms, vs. the larger category 4 rooms.

So there is a tradeoff vs. other category 4's, you lose indoor space to get outdoor space.

Send me a message or request a quote and I'm happy to help you choose the right stateroom for your family.
