Dr. Z girls, please come in!
Hey ladies. So I have made my first appt with Dr. Z for a consult. I am so worried as to why I have had three chemicals in a row. My questions for you ladies~~~
Does Dr. Z tend to look outside of the box to see what is going on?
Does he run recurrent loss panels?
Does he do his own procedures like hysteroscopy?
I am going to consult with him and see if he is knowledgable about endo also. I just don't know what is causing the little ones not to stick. I apparently don't have a problem getting pregnant but more so keeping the pregnancy. Thanks for helping!

Re: Dr. Z girls, please come in!
My experience with Dr. Z is this:
He is pretty current on all the studies and data about what works and what doesn't, but he's not pushy. I have as much say in my protocol as he does.
He's a total medical science nerd (I mean this in a good way) so, he will super duper carefully explain things to you complete with diagrams.
He does his own procedures. Some of them are done out of Melville Surgery Center (IVF, HSG), but I know he does all his own procedures. He was going to do an HSG on me, until we decided I was going to IVF after this cycle. He does all the IUIs too, and sonos.
I have no experience with recurrent losses, but I would imagine if you had those issues he'd address them appropriately, he's completely patient focused. Ultimately, you decide what your plan will be. He's not pushy and won't force anything on you. He's as conservative in protocol or as liberal as you'd like him to be.

I agree with Joanne on many points.
He is a phenomenal doctor, very current on research and science. He is very attentive to every patient and he knows your story without constantly having to read your chart or ask questions. (To me that was huge, who wants to keep explaining things over and over)
When I went to Dr. Z, I already had 2 chemicals.
We did IUI with injectables.. I had a 3rd chemical. Honestly, he tried so hard to find out what was going on. He suggested we check my egg quality the next go around.
I took 4 months off because the whole IF journey was really getting to me. While on a break from IF, DH and I conceived naturally. I got my BFP last Thursday night and walked into his office Friday morning for blood work and it was like I never left. He knows how nervous I am so he's kind of babying me through this and repeating blood work. On Monday I had a question as to my bloods and he spent 20 mins on the phone with me calming me down.
Ultimately, he didn't have an answer for me. He was trying really hard to figure it out. I took things into my own hands and went on a gluten free diet and started taking baby aspirin. I also took many supplements to help my egg quality while I took a break. Who knows what worked.

I am so sorry about what you are going through. You need answers.
I been with Dr. Z since January. I'm on IUI #5. I feel comfortable with him and he will answer all questions. During the consult he will sit with you for as long as you need and answer any questions. He explains a lot. Our consult was like 20-30 minutes. Then a sono. He also talked about all the risks such as multiple births with iui/injects.
Does Dr. Z tend to look outside of the box to see what is going on? He knows his stuff. If I ask questions he brings up current studies and stats. I haven't really asked any of the outside the box questions. We are unexplained and my insurance says I have to do 6 IUIs before IVF so we are doing 6 IUIs. He says do 3 of something and then move on. So I did 3 IUIs with Clomid, now 3 IUIS with injects. He is realistic about IUI and if it will work.
Does he run recurrent loss panels? I have never been preg so IDK. I'm sure if you ask he will.
Does he do his own procedures like hysteroscopy?
Yes. he did my HSG at Melville surgery center in February. He thought he saw something so he then did a Saline Sono in his office a few days later. He does all IUIs and that is in office. He also does all sonos. I am not sure where he does IVF.
Good luck. Any questions FM me.

Re: Dr. Z girls, please come in!
I used to go to East Coast Fertility (now LIIVF). Dr Z wasn't my Dr there but I did see him occasionally and when I did I really liked him.
Fast forward to 4 plus years later, and now trying for my 2nd child, I decided after hearing that he went out on his own to use him-wanted that personal touch.
My experience thus far: although I think he's great, I am finding his office not run so well, not enough staff, IDK. Numerous times I've had issues, such as: changing an appointment and then being called to say I was a no show, making a few very important appointments then I'm told they don't have them in the book and changing them on me, and also a BIG unhappiness is when they don't return your call and you have to call again.
What I REALLY miss from my old DR was that you can email him and he constantly wrote you back and forth. Dr. Z doesn't email.
I am continuing to use him as I know he's a great DR, however, I hope his office staff gets more on the ball.
I know this didn't answer your specific questions but I just thought I'd share my experience.
Good luck!!

Re: Dr. Z girls, please come in!
Hey girls, my progesterone is always great but I did get preg on a cycle that she put me on the suppositories. I have a feeling I will be back on them this cycle. I never thought ab the baby aspirin but I am totally asking the RE about this! I bruise very easily so could that indicate a clotting issue?
