It's Farmingdale school district, which is a big district. I am 99% sure that would be Northside Elementary school (but you could always call to find out), and then it would definitely be Farmingdale Middle and High School.

That area of Farmingdale is nice, but it's Farmingdale school district which isn't too good. And Christine is right - Northside Elementary School. Part of Farmingdale, not far from there, is zoned for Half Hollow Hills SD, which is much better.

Nothing. I graduated fdale and the schools are fine. A little more diverse than other surroundin districts, which isn't a bad thing. For whatever reason on LIF fdale gets bashed. Lenox hills is one of the nicest neighborhoods and very convenient to train and highways.

Farmingdale schools are fine. Not bad and not top notch. Perfectly fine!. They are diverse which is fine for my kids to go to.
THe area is nice but some of the houses back up to the tracks so noise would be my issue with those streets.
It is def Northside elementary and then there is only one middle and HS. The middle school is just off Conklin and the HS is in South Farmingdale.
I moved to the area 4 years ago and while we are quickly growing out of our house I am considering stay in town just a bigger house because I really love livign here.

I happen to live in Farmingdale and think it is lovely. There are a lot of young families moving into the community and I love it. great parks and the ppl are friendly.

Re: Farmingdale Lenox Hills area
Farmingdale here as well and I'm happy to see so many of us standing up for our town. The school district questions always get crazy on here. As for the question of is Farmingdale a good school district, it really depends on what they are looking for in a district. I went to Massapequa HS and purposely avoided the Massapequa school district when house hunting. People on here will go on and on about how it's top notch, way above Farmingdale and I disagree on so many levels. The best way to find out about a district is to speak with people who are involved in it, have children there etc. Statistics and opinions of people not in the district can only tell you so much. Farmingdale has four elementary schools and the area you are referring to is zoned for Northside elementary. The district is fairly sized and diverse. There are many programs offered, our library is amazing, our youth council offers all kinds of activities, there are AP and college level courses offered at the HS, we have an olympic size swimming pool at the HS, our budget typically always passes and is not super inflated, there is a good sense of community and a lot of young families here/moving in. ETA: there is also currently a fantastic Universal Pre-K program run in conjunction with Hofstra University offered by lottery.

Re: Farmingdale Lenox Hills area
I will just chime in to say that my sister has long-taught kindergarten at one of the Farmingdale elementary schools, and I think she and many of her colleagues in the district (whom I know) are dedicated and creative teachers!
And as an aside - I would say the Farmingdale library is one of the absolute best and it has great children's programs.
And I would agree that how "good" a district is depends on who is evaluating it and what they care about most in a school or a district.

What makes Farmingdale school district not that good?
It recently rated just above Roslyn. Thats concerning to me. Many people I know here complain that the SD is failing their children. Now do I believe the SD is solely to blame for children who find themselves going down the wrong path? No. Much of it is what the parents put into it. But I've heard about children being forced to miss core classes for band practice, among other issues. That said, of course many children thrive in the SD. It's all relative.
Every SD has its positives and negatives. Every town has positives and negatives. Farmingdale is very family oriented in terms of events. The Lenox Hills area is a nicer area. I'm moving away from an area that isn't great at all. Definitely clouds my vision.

Farmingdale Lenox Hills area
I live in Farmingdale. DH and I moved here over a year ago. We love it. I have co-workers that live in N. Massapequa and their kids go to Farmingdale schools and they love it. I also know someone who moved from Wantagh to Farmingdale and raves about Farmingdale SD and says her child is doing so well in Farmingdale as opposed to when she lived in Wantagh. But like someone else said it really is all about what you are looking for in a school district. Like I have mentioned in the past, I hung out with kids that lived in Jericho. Jericho on paper looks amazing but from what my friends have told me about drugs and alcohol and teachers just passing everyone to keep the scores high. A lot of top notch schools do this to keep them top notch. People want a great supportive district but I think if Parents' are involved with their kids' education, kids will do well in most places.
ETA: Lenox Hills is an amazing area. It would be Northside Elementary and Farmingdale MS & HS. We actually looked at a beautiful tudor home in this area but there was an insane bidding war and the house sold for above the asking price. So it's a very desirable area.

Not sure if you are considered village -- just factor in the taxes if you are. Also, there were stories in new day about rain runoff because of the building in the area, if the house is at the bottom of the hills I would check into flooding and pooling water.

I have 3 children in FDale schools and I cannot say enough wonderful things about it. I have NO idea why it gets a bad rap on LIF.
Lenox Hills is gorgeous. Northside Elementary. If you're looking for Half Hollow Schools, then you'd want to be in the Suffolk County part of FDale (down by the college towards 110).

I beg to differ. HHH is crazy competitive. I purposely avoided buying my house in that section of FDale because of the stories of keeping up with the Jones.. And, FWIW, I have friends who teach in HHH and they're slated to close a bunch of schools over the next few years. There are NO buildings closing in FDale.

I have searched and searched about this flooding you mentioned but I have been unsuccessful in finding any info on it...Would you possibly have an info on this or steer me in the right direction?...
I am a little concerned...Thanks!!

Re: Farmingdale Lenox Hills area
Try this it's towards the end, they took a lot of heat when they started allowing massive construction projects in the hills. The runoff was flooding out houses at the bottom of the hill. If you go to the village page they have had the state involved for the last 3 years or so because of it.
I would read the section where the goal is:
To develop an adequate program to monitor post-construction stormwater management practices.

Re: Farmingdale Lenox Hills area
We are considering a house in Farmingdale that is zoned for Northside Elementary. I see on schooldigger.com that among NY state elementary schools it ranked in the 85th percentile in 2007 and then plunged to the 55th percentile in 2008. Since then, it has steadily fallen to the 43rd percentile in 2013. The math scores fell from 97 to 25 from 2007 to 2013. The reading scores fell from 83 to 28 from 2007 to 2013.
Does anyone have any insight into this? Was there redistricting? High teacher turnover? Seems something substantial must have occurred.

I am not familiar with Farmingdale but I will say that the NYS tests have changed over the past few years, both the formats and the cut scores. The 2013 tests were Common Core tests, even though the Common Core wasn't fully implemented. Only 31% of students grades 3-8 met the standards for Math & ELA in 2013. Everyone knew test scores would drop drastically this year. You can't compare prior scores to 2013.
