Pronunciation question
Just wondering what your first instinct would be in pronouncing Stephan?

Re: Pronunciation question
Definitely like Stefan. Personally I would spell it with an f because I like the way it looks.

Re: Pronunciation question
Stefan for sure
My BIL is Stephen (meant to be pronounced Steven) which is close to Stephan & people call him Stefan often.... I remember when somebody who said it wrong actually told him if his name were meant to sound like "Steven" then it should be spelled with a v!.. I was like wow, that's balls to tell somebody that about their name!

Re: Pronunciation question
I would pronounce it as it were Stefan.
My husband's name is Stephen ("Steven") but many people want to pronounce it like it's Stefan or Stephan. With the "A" at the end it's Stefan, with the "EN" like my DH has, it's "Steven".

Re: Pronunciation question
Thanks ladies. That's what I figured.
We want to use a middle name to honor my FIL. His name was Stephan, but he always went by Steve (with that spelling). I think we should use Steve or Steven to honor the sound of the name he went by, especially since BIL's name is Stephan.
But my MIL had to make a stupid comment about how it will mean nothing to her if we use Steve or Steven. Hey newsflash lady, it's supposed to mean something to me and DH, not you. So now DH is doubting himself and unsure of what to do.
At this point I feel like we should just choose another name altogether...

Stefan because of the A in StephAn
This.
For it to be Steven I think it needs to be spelled with an "e" (Stephen), not an "a"
