Questions about Montreal
Is it ideal to drive up there on a Sunday then leave on a Thursday? Or would we need more time there?
How long does it take? I remember it taking us 4 hours to get to Lake George while seeing signs for Montreal.
Trying to weigh all our vacation options bc I'm not sure im in the mood to get on a plane. Thank you.

Questions about Montreal
I think that is plenty of time. DH and I went with some friends a few years ago. We did a long weekend and thought it was enough time (Thurs-Mon).
It was about 6 hours or so? Not too bad! You definitely don't need to take a plane if you don't want to.

Re: Questions about Montreal
Yup, Montreal is about 7 hours or so, give or take.
It's beautiful up there! We went in 2007 and I've been itching to go back.

Great. What did you do while up there? I'm interested in river/dinner cruises, tours, etc...

Hey, Did you enjoy all the sightseeing? Is any of it in walking distance from one to the other?

Well we went for a purpose -- the Canadiens were playing both the Rangers & Islanders in the same weekend! And it was in the middle of winter so it was extremely snowy and cold. We took the subway and walked everywhere... rarely drove.
We saw the Biodome which was fun, went to a casino one night, went to Old Montreal. Unfortunately there was a bit of a blizzard lol when we were there so we didn't get to see as much as we wanted.. it was just too cold! Also we had the 2 hockey games to go to. Half the time we were in the hotel staying warm. I definitely wouldn't go in the winter!

Went with girlfriends quite a few years ago, so I don't really remember too many of the specifics of what we saw, but we walked EVERYWHERE. It was a lot, but we really did walk prettymuch the whole city. I loved it there - great trip!

Re: Questions about Montreal
You can walk everywhere. We jumped on the subway and got off a few stops later, only to realize that we could've walked the distance in like, ten minutes
We saw some live jazz, ate great food (brunches were amazing! and they have some great Indian restaurants up there), walked around Old Montreal a bunch, took a haunted tour, visited the cathedrals. It was pretty amazing.
Restaurant Gandhi - we ate here...holy moly YUM.
ETA: When you're up there, be sure to try the local beers. Keith's Ale is one that we still talk about to this day.
