Any NYC teachers...
That have taken or will take child care leave? I would love to do this if it weren't for insurance. My husband doesn't get free insurance so I feel like I need to go back for insurance. Has anyone purchased health insurance for a fair price for your family? Tia!

I was thinking of doing this but have heard it is very expensive! Like 800-1200 a month for families! Sheesh!

They have to keep us on our benefits for 12 weeks. Not sure how long you were thinking of staying out?

You keep your insurance for up to 12 weeks under the FMLA. After that they will offer you Cobra. I had asked about it and they quoted me for $1300/month for family.
