BTDT Moms - Travel during first trimester?
DH and I have a trip planned with I now realize will fall during my 7th week. I'm on the 5th week right now. Feeling crampy, nauseated, etc. I'm worried about those symptoms getting worse or just being sick on the airplane (I am usually not sick on airplanes but now all bets are off).
I'm not really worried about the plane or anything on the trip hurting the baby, but I know that it's also a time when many miscarriages do happen and it scares me a bit to be in another country at that crucial time.
Can you tell me about your travel experiences during early pregnancy? Should I try to postpone the trip?
It's to Jamaica but I will be at an all inclusive resort with filtered water, etc.
Thanks!

BTDT Moms - Travel during first trimester?
If you end up being like me.... being in a public, at an all you can eat place is the last place in the world you'd want to be. My nausea kicked in around 7 weeks and lasted until 14. I couldn't eat anything, smell anything... It was terrible. I had to keep turning down dinner w friends and fam bc it was just embarrassing.
I would postpone. Chances are you will feel soo much better 2nd tri.

I went to England and Scotland at 6 weeks pregnant for 17 days...My doctor said I should definitely go...although morning sickness was a big pain and being in pubs and not being able to drink wasn't too exciting either...but I'm glad I did go. As far as I know there we no risks with flying or anything.

I didn't travel to another country but have traveled during my 1st trimester. i honestly have felt great during both of my pregnancies and never had morning sickness or food aversions or even cravings. You just don't know how your body will react and how you personally will handle it. Just do what you are comfortable with. Even with morning sickness, I'd rather have morning sickness in Jamaica than at home

BTDT Moms - Travel during first trimester?
I went skiing in Colorado at 6 weeks and at 10 weeks - the hardest part was feeling nauseas when traveling - I just made sure to always have something to drink with me and snacks -

If you're feeling nauseated now, it could get worse. Mine did with my first and I wouldn't have truly enjoyed a vaca. But this second time around (7 weeks now) I feel great. It's hard to tell. Do you have travel insurance? Maybe you could get some in case you want/have to cancel last minute.

I took a cruise out if NY, went to Florida and Nebraska during my pregnancies. I was lucky to not deal with morning sickness, so it was fine for me. That said, I have been sick on vacation and that is NO fun. If you're going to feel sick, it's better to be home in bed.

I'm a little SOL in terms of cancellation. I'm feeling sick but I finally got Zofran, so hoping to get through it with that, benadryl and snacks.

My MS was in full swing at 7 weeks. I would have been so unhappy. I traveled to NC at 13 w and stayed in a condo and was still miserable.
Everyone is different. My entire pregnancy was the worst so I dont think I'm a good person to go by

I flew to Hawaii when I was around 12 weeks pregnant. That was a long flight so my doctor told me I had to get up ever hour and walk the length of the p,and to prevent blood clots. I was fine going there but was sick thought the flight home.

Re: BTDT Moms - Travel during first trimester?
I went to Miami around 10 weeks and Greece around 13 weeks. I got a *tad* queasy on the Greece flight, but that's because it was soooo long and a bit bumpy.
But overall I had no big issues either time - I had a very easy pregnancy though, so was pretty lucky.
