My night at L&D
Last night I was laying on the couch and my right hand was really bothering me. DH helped me get off the couch because I had to pee for the 100th time in that hour span. When I went to the bathroom I looked at my right hand , I've been suffering carpel tunnel the past 2 weeks and figured with the weather it was probably from that but I couldn't even make a fist. I put it next to my left hand it my right hand was double the size. It BLEW up! I ran out of the bathroom and showed DH. My fingers were so swollen that my knuckles were white. I called my sister and she told me to take my BP (I have a machine because my pressure is usually low and it was calibrated by my cardio's office so I know it's not far off). She told me it was probably from the way I was laying and it was drainage. She said to sit with my hand over my heart and if it doesn't go down then call the OB. My pressure ended up being 125/94 and then 114/88. After 45 minutes of my hand over my head I called my OB who sent me to L&D.
I got to L&D around 11PM and they took me right in, hooked me up to the machines to monitor my BP and the baby, took some blood, and my medical history. Everything seemed to be ok. I had 1 contraction that showed up on the monitor but that was it. They told me to watch my salt intake. They also gave me a 24 hour urine jug. They said that I have some protein in my urine and they just want to check it. I'm 37 weeks today and told them to expect A LOT of urine since I pee so much now!!
They did a sono and baby boy is measuring right on schedule and is 6lb 10oz so far (give or take a pound). Glad everything turned out to be ok for the most part. My hand is still a little swollen which I'm still a little concerned about but I'll just watch it to make sure it doesn't get TOO bad.

Wow, that's scary! I'm glad everything seems to be OK and your little one is healthy. Hopefully your hand goes back to normal and everything else checks out fine!! Feel better!

Glad to hear you and baby are ok!! Do you happen to have neck pain? .. this happens to me, but i have nerve damage in my arms from a car accident, and its from a bulge in my neck, just thought id throw it out there in case it helps!

if you continue to have high BP (compared to your normal BP), protein and issues with swelling they will deliver your baby. you are full term so if it turns into pre-e delivery is the cure!! if they have to deliver, it sounds like baby is cooked enough that it should be absolutely fine! good luck!

Thank you girls!!!
I don't have any neck pain. My hand is still a little swollen and it hurts when it swells up that much. Thank you though for the suggestion.
I'm ok with delivering if they have to. It'll be ok since I'm full term but of course would like to keep him in just a little while longer, even though I'm SO ready!!!!
