Traveling for newborn photos
Would you travel about 40 minutes to get newborn photos? I'm a FTM and worry about taking my LO out when they are so young. WWYD?

Traveling for newborn photos
Im also a FTM having mine in december and I honestly wouldnt. My gf did she had hers in february and traveled 10 mins and said it wouldve been better at home. Im sure there are different opinions but 40mins seems like a lot to me. Im using Melanie Beth Photography and shes super reasonable 400 with cd and no printing fee and she travels to you for extra 50-100.

I'm also a FTM and I personally wouldn't. It feels unrealistic to me to commit to traveling with a newborn to an unknown place, days after birth while trying to get used to my new life. Not to mention unsure how I will feel. Having the photog. Come to me is a must.

I wanted to use Melanie Beth but she is booked for my date, I'm so bummed!

Yeah I'm definitely not that comfortable traveling. It's just that one photog I found has such a great deal, but I think is a little too far for me.

I'm traveling about 30 min for mine. It was worth it to me to save on the travel fee and bc her pic are awesome!

I will be doing the same, I absolutely love this photog's pics and baby *should* be sleeping the whole way (I hope!) so to me it's not an issue.

Traveling for newborn photos
I have the same concern. I have to travel from Brooklyn to Long Island for my newborn pics. This is after I will probably have had a C-section.

I personally chose not to. I had to BF and pump multiple times during DD's newborn shoot (at home) and I didnt think I would be comfortable traveling for this baby, especially also having DD with me

I wouldn't (and didn't) for my first baby. Besides, it being winter and I didnt want to be driving, had no clue what to expect.
This baby, I am traveling maybe about 20 minutes or so

I didn't for DS but will this time. We will only be going 15-20 minutes. I don't think that this photographer even travels. I was really questioning traveling at the beginning. DH feels that the photographer gets better photos in her studio b/c of lighting. I will also have a better choice of props. I also won't have to worry about the house being clean and orderly after being in the hospital for days.

I think its a personal choice on wether to travel with the baby. If you really love the photog and think it will be worth it to get these onece in a lifetime shots with them then go for it. People do it all the time, but again, its a personal thing.
When my girls were 4 weeks old I packed them up by myself to a friends 20 mins away so she could get shots of me with them and DH was like "what? you are taking them somewhere" lol. I said um yeah people come to me all the time, why not.

Only had an issue twice but it's always a fear of mine when there is a long car ride involved! I can usually get them back to sleep, but that's just why I prefer to do in-home sessions. It's easier for the parents to keep them up before the session at home. I do think it all depends on the baby too!

we were going to travel for ours but the photographer didn't have availability
my only thoughts would be to make sure the photographer has a lot of free time. if the shoot is normally 2 hours (im just guessing on that - i ended up not doing pics so i dont know how long it takes) ask them to give you a 3 hour window. you never know when the baby will need to eat that day or how much sleep you will have, so if you have some flexibility to show up 20 minutes late but have a happily fed baby its worth it instead of you both stressing to get somewhere on time.

Traveling for newborn photos
I traveled an hour for dd newborn photos when she was 15 days old. We were both fine and I never second guessed the decision ( that being said I live so Far East I don't have options close)

Traveling for newborn photos
I had a C-section and traveled from Westbury to Port Washington. Not super far. it was fine. Her studio was in a separate part of the house away from kids/pets etc.
