Trigger and IUI
So after thinking I ovulated twice...it turns out I had an LH surge which the dropped and allowed my body to produce 4 follies. I am scheduled for an HCG injection tomorrow and then we are jumping to an IUI on Thursday. It wasn't part of the original plan, but it was offered and at this point I don't see why we shouldn't do anything necessary to make our chances better at getting pregnant.
So the purpose of my post is to ask what I should expect for the trigger and for the IUI since I've never done either before and didn't have much time to research/read about what to expect.
Thank you all for all of your support and knowledge. You have no idea how helpful this board has been to get me through this insanity!

Re: Trigger and IUI
I trigger tonight for an IUI on Thursday.
The trigger shot has some side effects, but so did the clomid I took days 3-7. I didn't really notice anything from it.
The needle is a little intimidating (and I'm a sissy) so I make my husband inject it... LOL.
the IUI is OK too, not much difference (in feeling) than an internal sono... I cramped a lot after my last one, but I also hyper stimulated.

Ok...Just a few questions. What side effects did you have from the trigger? I had no side effects from the Clomid so I don't know what to compare it to.
Also, what does it mean when you are hyperstimulated?
Thanks!

I had a lot of cramps the first few days after IUI. With my last IUI I had 6 mature follicles , from 100 mg of clomid -- so I hyperstimmed, as most women don't have that many follicles. Mostly I had lots of cramping, sometimes I got dizzy.
I decreased to 50mg of clomid -- because I didn't want to chance that many follicles again.

Trigger and IUI
The trigger isn't so bad. My DH gives it to me and its over before you know it. I used a trigger for my 3 IUI cycles and will be using it this week for IUI #4. I don't really notice any major side effects. I am always bloated on all these meds though.
As for IUI DHs sample gets washed. An hour or so later you have the procedure. I have some cramping and pinching during IUI. The whole thing takes maybe 15 minutes. Then I stay laying down for 10 minutes when its over. The night of IUI I usually have cramping and mild pain. I am a baby and have now moved on to injects so the trigger isn't a big deal at all to me. Good luck, it isn't so bad.

WOW! 6 follicles is crazy! I have 4 (2 are mature) and I thought that was a lot (but then again I don't know much here!)
Thanks for all of that info. I didn't want to go in totally blindsided. They are administering the HCG shot to me at the office, and the nurse said it's like a diabetic insulin needle. So hopefully it won't be too bad.

Thank you! I hate having my blood drawn what feels like 9 million times a week...I can't imagine I'm going to enjoy the HCG. Just going to close my eyes and pray it goes quickly.

I just did took my hcg an hour ago. I'm use to it by now- this is my 4th one. I thought I was having an IUI on Friday but my BW showed I was starting to surge on my own. So now I have an IUI tomorrow at 4:30. I'm so glad they were able to work around my busy work schedule tomorrow. Best of luck to you tomorrow, its really not so bad. I like to take it easy afterwards if I can.

No you are fine. For my first IUI I had to be at work right after, as it was Parent-Teacher conferences. Just try to take it easy at work. You may have some random pains. My RE said there was no need to stay home but if I want to relax go for it. The IUI is really not a big deal. If you had an HSG this is a piece of cake. Good luck. Any questions, just ask. Sadly I'm on number 4 so I know a lot about IUIs at this point...

Good luck with your IUI. 4 follies is great!! I had no side effects when I triggered. I just had to do it at a specific time per my doctor. IUIs are easy and quick for the most part. You should be able to go to work without any problems or pain.
