Glucose questionnnn
So my doctor just told me to go to Quest labs to do it. At what week did you go?
Also, do I need to make an appointment? Is it weird that my OB didn't give me any instructions like eat or don't eat before?

Re: Glucose questionnnn
I went to Quest at 26 weeks on a Saturday and had no problem doing the 1 hour without an appointment.
I failed 1 hour and had to go in for the 3 hour at 27 weeks and they told me that they dont do it on Saturdays... only during the week with an appointment because they have to keep taking ur blood.

Re: Glucose questionnnn
I went at 27w for 1 hour. When I called to make the appointment I was told I only needed an appt for the 3 hour test. I asked for instructions and I was told my OB should have given them to me. I called my OB office and they told me the lab should have given them to me.
My OB office said nothing to eat or drink after 10pm and that it would need to be fasting so to go early.

Re: Glucose questionnnn
I have a new OB that is making me do it at 14 weeks bc my dad has diabetes so im higher risk for it, even though i was fine the last two pregnancies.
They do it at the office, my appt is at 5 pm, so she told me to fast for 2 hours before.

Glucose questionnnn
My doc did the same thing. He just told me to go to a Quest between 24-25 weeks. I didn't even think to ask any questions until I left the office. I'm not going to fast, but I will be mindful of what I eat before hand.

Re: Glucose questionnnn
My OB just said to go do it soon (I'm 26wks) and gave me a script for Quest (I NEVER go there anymore- Enzo labs is so much more convenient and ALWAYS empty!)
I asked him if I needed to fast and he said no.
I'm going to see if Enzo can use the Quest script they gave me.

Re: Glucose questionnnn
Usually you go for the 1 hour glucose testing between 26 - 28 weeks. I was told no food or drink other than water for 12 hours prior.

Re: Glucose questionnnn
So weird that so many doctors have different instructions! I'd check with your office and see what they say.
Mine was done in the office. The previous appt they gave me the drink and then told me a hour before my appointment (I think it was about 28 weeks) to drink the stuff (within 5 minutes I had to finish it) then nothing to eat after I drank it. I had to get to the office about 15 mins ahead so they could make sure to do the draw at an hour.
They had no rules for fasting - though they said to be careful of what I ate that morning just so as to not throw the test off.
I had a whole wheat muffin for breakfast and and a cheese stick and water for a snack - my test was about 1:00. My numbers were fine.

Re: Glucose questionnnn
I did it at 12 weeks because diabetes runs in my family and I am doing it again next week- they said between 28-30 would be best
eta- when I fasted, I failed with my first pregnancy... I didnt fast at the 12 week one and passed no problem. Just watch your carbs the day before and stop eating like maybe an hour or 2 before- my ob had originally said 3 hours before

Re: Glucose questionnnn
I had mine (1 hour) at 28 weeks & wasn't given any instructions about whether to eat or not beforehand. I think I took mine at 3 or 4 pm after having lunch around 11 or 12.
ETA I took it at my doctor's office.

Re: Glucose questionnnn
I did mine at quest at 28 weeks. I didn't fast but I watched my sugar intake the day before. I did it in the AM, so I just had a hardboiled egg. I had five minutes to drink the stuff and they took my blood. It was pretty easy.
