First Time Mom Bottle help!

Hey ladies, Im doing my registry and want to add 2 diff bottle companies to have a backup in case baby hates one. I plan on BF unless no milk etc and I want to introduce the bottle within a few weeks of BF and do both interchangeable so I want bottles that your BF babies liked. For now I have DR Brown and Mimijumi bec I heard they are grt for BF babies

I just went through the same thing and after doing much research and speaking with different moms this is what I am doing... I registered for the medela freestyle which comes with bottles that I plan to use at first, I also registered for Dr. Browns And Avent Natural Bottles... The natural are for breastfeed babies. I plan to use avent first and then if god forbid the baby is colic I will try Dr. Browns. Hope this helps.

First Time Mom Bottle help!

Dr. Brown's is supposed to be the best for reducing colic. The thing moms don't like about them is they have a lot of pieces. They were all I registered for and DS had no issues.

my suggestion would be to register for a few diff bottles b/c you never know which your LO will take to. I registered for all Dr Browns and DD ended up hating it! we switched to Playtex Drop-Ins which she liked and its easy clean up.

i wouldnt necessarily register for bottles...and if you do only register for 1 or 2 of each brand. DD tried many different bottles until we found one she likes. she is BF and takes to the playtex Ventaire best. her second favorite is the playtex nurser and surprisingly the bottles that came with my madela breast pump. we tried Dr Browns, born free, similac simply start, and avent and she had bad gas with them or had issues with the flow.

ITA! DD ended up on Playtex Ventaire after trying Avent and Dr. Brown. DS ended up on Dr. Brown after trying Playtex Ventaire and Avent. So this time we are getting one pack of each and then will buy more when we know what works!

this is all i registered for and no issues but i will say i hate all the parts and i did not own a dishwasher for the first few months and it was horrible washing all those bottles. I finally got a dishwasherChat Icon

So basically my advice is if you dont have dishwasher dont get Dr. Browns Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: First Time Mom Bottle help!

DS is 6 months, I BF and pump and use Born Free. We have never had an issue with nipple confusion and DS does great with them. They are also easy to clean and put together.

Re: First Time Mom Bottle help!

With dd I ended up using dr browns. Pain to clean but worked out great. This dc I think I have 3 of every bottle Chat Icon I have advent, tomee tipee, nuk, and playtex drop ins. But literally only have 2-3 of each until I figure out which one baby likes.

I would get a couple diff ones. No big starter packs. What worked great for our gassy/fussy baby were playtex drop ins and born free.

I'm going to take the opposite approach of many moms and say - just choose a bottle. Your baby will adapt to the bottle you give him/her. Years ago, there was only really 1 kind of bottle and babies all ate fine. Today, I think it's a lot of marketing and most babies would be happy with whatever you give them.

That being said, we use Dr Brown's bottles and DS eats like a champ!! I BF at first and he had no problems taking the bottle.

This is what the woman at BBB told us too. I registered for Dr Browns and also plan on breastfeeding.

Re: First Time Mom Bottle help!

I registered for Avent (made in England) and Dr. Brown's (made in USA) glass bottles w/ silicone sleeves and a few plastic ones (I'd really prefer all glass but just trying to be realistic in case baby gets older and starts throwing his or her bottle around lol). I wanted to do Tommy Tippee but once I saw they were made in China, no way.

I only registered for one type as well - we used Born Free with DS 1 and Dr Browns for DS 2 (we had to replace so many parts it was just as cost efficient to start fresh).

Although I'd like to say I agree, my friends dd wouldn't take any bottle while she was breastfeeding. She kept trying with the tomee tippee and then finally, just gave those hospital nipples a try and thats what she took to. I too feel there are too many choices and eventually baby will drink when he/she is hungry, but when you are bf too and returning to work, you just want your baby to eat, no matter how many bottles you have to try.
