the only thing i can thin of is maybe

did it say female?

on all my sonos after my name and age it said female,,my gender not baby

idk why they do that but they do

This.

I can't understand why they would write the gender. We found out the gender and it's not even written anywhere. My doctor asks me what I'm having whenever i come in.

its very funny you ask this. i actually got a call from the office manager yesterday telling me EXACTLY that ~ that the only thing on the medical record was female and it was referring to me. mind you - the office manager is a "middle man" in all this but i clear as day saw at the top of the page "BOY!!/GIRL!!" (sorry i still havent told anyone the sex!) but it wasnt written as a medical term at all. it even had exclamation points after the word!
now i know what i saw but i did find out the sex with my son and they didnt write a thing on the pics ~ but i know im not crazy.

basically - curiosity may kill this cat now because when i have the next sono i can either choose to believe i may have not have saw what i saw OR i can ask and confirm.

If you do decide to get another sonogram to get confirmation on the sex, perhaps you should take your husband.

The reason why I didn't want to go Team Green is because I am afraid of exactly what happened to you. When I read your post, I felt badly because your husband wasn't there with you. At least if the tech was going to expose the sex, I would like my husband to be right by my side.

i wish he were there to have saw what i saw too! i also wish i wouldve called out what i saw right then! i think i was too shocked.
i now need to figure out what is going to hold more weight - the need to confirm what i saw? or the need to leave the mystery in this situation so i can have my "surprise"?

anatomy scan disappointment ~ wwyd?

It is 100% possible that it was someone else's scan if you accidentally hit another button. This actually happened to me. I knew the gender though so seeing someone else's scan wasn't that big of a deal to me but maybe due to HIPPA laws it is for the tech. We were in the middle of a scan, she clicked on a different picture and it wasn't mine. She just quickly moved on with the scan and got out of that picture.

It's a computer system so it's not like she has to sign out and sign back in for someone else's scan. I'm SO sorry this happened to you but with so many "it could have been this" and "why would they do this" questions floating around, why not just decide that you still don't know the gender. Don't let curiosity take over. What if it wasn't your scan and you ask for confirmation and it ends up being the other gender? You will end up being SO mad at yourself. Especially since the office manager called and said that there is nothing in your chart, it is most likely someone else's that you saw.

Crashing...

When I was pregnant, we were team green. I was high risk, so I constantly had sonograms. We made sure to always announce that we didn't want to know the sex of the baby.

At my first appt with my OB, he instructed me to remind him that we didn't want to know the babys sex at each appointment. One day, he seemed distracted, just not himself. Right before the sono, I did what I always did and said, "Remember that we don't want to know the sex." As he's doing the sono, I saw a penis. I quickly turned away, but I saw what I saw. He then printed out a few pictures (as he always did), handed them to me, and walked out of the room. By the time DH and I got home, I was in hysterics. I felt robbed of such a special moment. Not only had I seen the penis, but he printed out a photo of it for us!

DH and I decided not to tell a soul about the mishap. I was so angry that I switched doctors. When my new OB questioned my decision to switch docs, I told her what happened. I told her that we knew it was a boy but were pretending not to know, even in our own minds. She said she'd never scan in that area so that we could continue to avoid knowing what we already knew.

Flash to delivery. Out comes baby. Being a FTM, I was waiting for the big moment when the dr exclaims,"It's a _____!!" Well, no one said anything. After a minute, I asked, "What is it?" Granted, DH and I knew, but I wanted to hear it. OB said,"it's a boy." DH and I looked at one another, nodding, because we knew the answer. I then noticed that the resident sitting beside my Ob, poked my doc and pointed. My Ob almostt jumped, looked quite confused, and yelled, "No. Omg, it's a girl!"

Apparently, because of what I'd told her, she was assuming we were having a boy and only glanced at the genitalia quickly, mistaking the umbilical cord for a penis. She laughed, saying she'd never done that before and asked me to bring the sono from my previous doc so she could see the mystery penis that DH and I saw.

Point is: you just never know. Looking back, the sono misunderstanding was great because we really got the surprise of our lives! For months, we thought we were having a boy. At delivery, we were told it was a boy. Ten seconds later, we were the parents of a beautiful, baby girl.

T. wow. omg so sorry to hear about this.
I cant imagine the feelings you are having.

I agree on how it dosent make any sense on why the tech would of typed in the sex. esp knowing you didnt want to know. so strange.
even when I did find out. my tech never typed it out on sono.

I guess maybe this is a chance to keep it as a surprise and mask the confusion a bit.

and as for asking for a new tech, absolutely you have a right to do so. you arent comfortable with her and i feel like the next time you see her, you may say whats on your mind or feel as if she could mess up again and ruin it again.

I agree with this. I was SENT HOME WITH THE WRONG SONOGRAM!

I saw my baby, she took pictures, I grabbed them and left. . . as I was sitting in my car I realized that my name was not on them (and I saw my name on the screen when I was getting the sono done!)

I'm sorry that this happened to you. I was team green as well, and we tried so hard not to find out the gender. If I were you, I would try to let myself think that maybe what you saw was a mistake/someone else's sono, etc.

When I was in triage the day my membranes started rupturing at work, before being admitted/induced, a nurse came to see me, and while looking at my chart, said, "you're having a girl, right?" I told her that I didn't know what I was having. She looked surprised and a little flustered. I was really bothered that I had waited so long to have the secret ruined at the last minute, but in the next 24+ hours, I totally managed to put it out of my mind, and was so excited to find out that it really was a girl. Only the next day did I remember what had happened in triage. I don't understand why it's even documented if we don't want to know the gender.

Is it possible that that was another pts scan? I really don't understand why she would even look for the gender if mom didn't want it. It's not part of the routine anatomy scan.

I agree maybe it wasn't yours but yes they must check to make sure that all the parts are there whether girl or boy. They usually have you look away so they can take all appropriate pics and measurements.

This makes me wonder why she had typed the sex on the screen with exclamation points when you clearly told her you didnt want to know. As far as I know, they don't record sex anywhere if you are team green. It doesn't make a difference in your prenatal care.

I would definitely ask why that was even there and request not to have her again.

Ugh! I am so sorry that happened to you! We made it all the way to the night I was admitted to the hospital in labor. The nurse then said to me "So you know you're having a boy..." and I said "Nope, didn't know that...but now I do." I wanted to punch her out! Hang in there..so sorry the surprise was blown Chat Icon

WHAT??? You never told me that!!!! I'm so sorry that happened! I don't know how you didn't punch her! How did she even know? Did they do a sono?
