Ocean City Maryland

If you've been, can you recommend a hotel? Is it really important to be on the boardwalk? We have 4 boys 6 and under.

I have heard great things about Ocean City for years and am intrigued! If you can share your thoughts, that would be great@

Re: Ocean City Maryland

I have gone a few times. The last time I went was 4 years ago. The last place we stayed was at the Dunes Manor hotel. All the rooms are ocean front. It is not directly on the boardwalk. It is more on the beach. The boardwalk starts about a block away. It was a quick walk and not too big of a deal. It was a nice hotel. I liked being directly on the beach. Nice and quiet, but I think I might stay closer to the center of the boardwalk next time. The Holiday Inn was close to the Dunes Manor, but was more directly on boardwalk. That was a nice place. I would for sure stay ocean front or directly on boardwalk. Its nice to be close to everything and is great to sit on the balcony at night and see the waves.

The beach is so nice!!! They have a great Amusement park area at the end of boardwalk. There is a Ripley Believe it or not. Many miniture golf courses and other attractions not directly on boardwalk but close by. Tons of stores and places to eat. Don't forget to get Thrasher fries and Kohr brothers Frozen yogurt. Yum!!! They also have a nice tram that goes up and down the boardwalk. I think it was $3. Its great at night when the kids get tired walking back to the hotel.

Its a nice relaxing vacation. Great when you have kids. You can just go grab something simple to eat at night and have dinner on a bench or a table on boardwalk. No getting dressed up or driving anywhere.
I'm sure they have a bunch of new stuff since I went last.
Have a great time!

Re: Ocean City Maryland

Never been before but am going at the end of this month. We're going with a group of people and rented a house. Not sure of the location since my friend did all the booking.
Can't wait since I've heard it's great for kids.

Re: Ocean City Maryland

Francis Scott Key resort was fabulous for kids. It is a mile from the boardwalk but they provide a free shuttle. We are going back again this year.

Re: Ocean City Maryland

I think it depends on what type of vacation you are looking for. For us, it is absolutely necessary to be on the boardwalk. We go every summer and always stay on the boardwalk. We like to be as far south on the boardwalk as possible. We like to be in the middle of all the action. If you are looking for a quieter vacation, being away from the boardwalk may be good for you. We like to rent a condo because we like having a full kitchen and several bathrooms and bedrooms.
