Fun night in the ER! At least the docs at NSUH Manhasset were adorable...
So I spent last night in the ER. At about 7pm I started feeling dizzy and lightheaded. I took my bp because of my history and it was normal, so I tried to drink lots and relax. About 20 mins later my left arm went numb and started tingling. I waited about an hour, spoke to my mom, and then called the emerg line. They told me to go to the ER (not labor and delivery). So off we went at about 9:30. They were AMAZING. I don't know if it was because the doctor called ahead, because I am pregnant, or because of my cardiac history but I was in a room, in a bed so fast my head was spinning. They ran a bunch of tests, checked baby, had me on fluids. We were there about 5 hours. Baby looked great, my heart and bloodwork looked okay. They really don't know what it was - best guess is either a reaction to upping the dosage of my bp meds which we did last week, or a nerve is being pressed on from growth that wasn't pressed on before. Baby looked great, moving around and heartrate was 144.
I'm home now, feeling okay just tired and bruised from the IV. My OB's office has me monitoring myself and taking it easy this weekend and if I feel okay I can wait til my scheduled appointment June 4th.
Also, NSUH ER was AMAZING. The staff were so nice, the doctors were sweet (and cute!)

glad you and baby are doing fine.
I have been feeling like crap too I am about to call my doctor! i'm in pain and nauseous!  at least I have a long weekend to rest and my parents are visiting me so hopefully my mom could take care of me lol wahhh
get lots of rest and feel better

Ugh... going to the ER for anything is scary, never mind when your pregnant!

Ugh... you sound like me last week minus the nausea. I hope you feel better too!

Ugh... you sound like me last week minus the nausea. I hope you feel better too!
thanks! I just called my doc and she wants me to come in!  I began my sentence by saying "I know this might be normal but...." she heard me and then said to come in

I'm so glad everything is ok with you and the baby!! Are they going to decrease your BP medication or still keep it elevated? Before being pregnant I was on BP medication but for my cluster headaches. I ended up in the hospital with a BP of 75/50 and a low heartrate. They lowered my dosage immediately but eventually had to take me off of it because my BP just kept dropping.
Please take it easy this weekend!! No more scares!

Oh this makes me feel better -- I have had the numbness left and right. First, it was my whole right side, then it was my right leg, then tingling. The other day it switched to my arm and hand! Ugh! I'm glad you posted b/c it is comforting to know that other people are experiencing the same thing. Glad that the hospital was good to you, that's how it should be, and it's great you had that experience.

Yeah I'm still having it on and off and occasionally in other areas too, but mostly left arm (hence the concern initially, because left arm can be related to heart). Anyways, it sounds funny but the part of me that has grown fastest is my left breast so I honestly think some nerve is being pushed on that wasn't before. Pregnancy does weird, weird things to our bodies! I feel a bit like I overreacted but everyone assures me that with my blood pressure and cardiac history, especially while pregnant I should always err on the side of caution.

I'm on a drug for preterm labor which is also used for blood pressure and when I first started on it a few weeks ago I ended up in L&D for funny side effects. I'm glad you both are ok!!

Glad you had a good experience and that you are ok! Sorry you had to go through it though. I had something similar happen, but the tingling went into my face, I had to do constant tests for protein in the urine with my DD. Not sure if maybe it is similar? Eventually i did have protein and ended up being induced bc I had a few problems.. but never had it with my DS. Hoping this is your last hospital stay till that baby boy wants to be born!

Glad you had a good experience and that you are ok! Sorry you had to go through it though. They definitely checked for protein in my urine. I'm high risk for pre-e anyways so they check me constantly but that was everyone's first thought! Hopefully that doesn't happen, but the dr. assured me that was not the case currently. Thanks!
