Refinishing floors while pregnant
Anyone go through it? We were in the middle of some renovations when I got pregnant. We recently had new hardwood installed and now it's time for stain and refinishing of existing floors. We are moving out for a week. I hear it really stinks for a while. Do you think I should stay out even longer?

I personally would stay away for as long as possible. When you see your doctor I'd also run it by them. Those fumes can't be good.

I think a week is sufficient... Just make sure windows stay open as much as possible to air it out. The first few days are the worst.

We were out of our house for 2 weeks because it took longer than we thought it would. We waited for the smell to really be gone!

We just had it done... The man said if we wanted water base I could come back next day... But if we wanted oil to stay out at least 4-5 days.
We did oil, I stayed at my brothers. The smell was pretty strong...

We were out close to 2 weeks. I was pregnant. The smell was incredibly strong and I did not want to take any chances.

Re: Refinishing floors while pregnant
We moved in about 3 days after we had ours done. We left all windows open. It stunk for like forever (mostly because I had super snoper prego nose). I think a week is fine as long as you keep windows open. We had ours done in May too so it was nice out.

Refinishing floors while pregnant
I redid my floors last year and we lived at my mom's for two weeks and when we got back it still smelled for another 2 weeks. I would stay out of the house as long as possible. Also, don't be surprised if your clothes smell like the stain for a while after when washing/drying. For some reason dryers seem to take the stain/poly smell and hold on to it - our clothes smelled for about 2 months after, I found out it's pretty common.... Don't know if it's only with gas dryers though**
