Disney cruise??
Will Disney be departing from NY again? Is it really almost 6k for a family of 4 to take a Disney cruise (and then need to add in airfare?) Is there any way to take a less expensive Disney cruise?

Re: Disney cruise??
They have no ny trips scheduled through the end of 2014. So the only hope is maybe 2015 but who knows.
I am guessing you are looking at the 7 nighter on the fantasy for 6k. What time of year are you looking? We just got back from the 4 night on the dream and it so much fun we all want to go again. So i have been looking some dates i can get 4500 others over 6k. This is for a family of 4. So you need to play with the dates. And category of room really matters too.
But you can also consider a shorter trip on the dream or magic (which is getting some upgrades this fall)
If you tried a shorter cruise first and liked it, you could book a future one on board and get 10% off. Another thing is some travel agents give on board credits for booking with them. We booked through costco and received a $200 gift card to costco and the price of the cruise was the same as if i booked through disney. Also when considering the price remember it includes nearly all your food and drinks (minus alcohol) when we priced our the cruise vs a wwek at disney the price difference wasnt as extreme as i had expected.

Re: Disney cruise??
Hi L!
To a person everyone I've ever spoken with about Disney Cruises have said they're worth every penny and I can tell you that from experience as well. You may get sticker shock, but it's important to realize, as Kelly noted, that the price includes lodging, meals, snacks, kids clubs and activities, broadway style shows, soft drinks, etc etc.
As far as savings goes, travelling during the school year will always be a bit less expensive. You can also take advantage of special offers. For example, there is a special going on right now for cruises on the Disney Magic out of Miami. I just priced a 5 night Western Caribbean for a family of 4 in october for just over $3000 for a verandah staterooms.
The Disney Wonder will be sailing from Galveston this fall and there are some great deals on those sailings as well. Same family of 4 for a SEVEN night W. Caribbean: Oceanviews starting around $3K and Verandah starting at $4100. For a 7 nighter that's an incredible price.
Let me know if you would like some more info. I LOVE Disney Cruise Line and could talk about it all day!

I should add that for Galveston you get 50% off deposit and up to $200 Onboard Credit from Disney in addition to the $50 OBC you can get for booking with Disney Visa and the OBCs that I personally offer. Galveston cruises are a GREAT deal.

Re: Disney cruise??
We just went on the Fantasy about a month ago. Yes, it is pricey for a family of 4 but we LOVED it and felt it was well worth it!

I LOVE Disney Cruise Line and could talk about it all day!
This is how I feel after ONE 4 day trip on DCL. Since DS1 was born (he is 5.5yo) we have taken him to Disney 3x, Hershey 2x, skiing in VT, blah blah blah.
Disney Cruise beats them all. My DH said last night we made a big mistake because we didnt book another cruise while we are onboard, because he enjoyed himself. And my DH is hard to impress because he gets easily stressed when traveling with the kids. My 5yo will talk anyone's ear off about the disney cruise, and says if he wins the lotto (we bought some aunts scratch off cards as part of Mothers Day) he is taking us all on the Disney Fantasy. And my 2yo, who had a ball (but obviously doesnt "get it") wants to look at the Disney Cruise future booking catalog we got on board each night and points out all the characters, the fireworks the boats etc.
We are already saving for our next cruise! It was THAT good.
If you have any questions, let me know. Also if the 7day one is too much consider starting off with a 4 night cruise. We just did the Dream and it was a fantastic ship, great service, everyone when out of their way for us, and it was nice because it was easy with the kids. We could split up easily if one kid needed a nap, DS didnt want to sit through dinner one night so we put him in kids club where he made cookies and colored pillow cases, it really is designed to make family travel as easy as possible.

Re: Disney cruise??
Kelly my DH is the same way! In the past 2 years we've done WDW a few times, staying at BLT, Beach Club, etc. Went to SoCal and stayed at the Grand Californian, Club Level at the Hard Rock Hotel, and did 2 Butler-level all inclusive trips, so all really amazing resorts, What can DH NOT stop talking about? Our Disney Cruise. We did a 5 night on the Dream (now very rare) and are planning a 7 night on the Fantasy.
Everything is just so well thought out on Disney Cruises. Together time, separate time, there's always something going on and you're always accommodated.

Re: Disney cruise??
Thanks so much for all the replies. It would be for more than just my immediate family, and I would have a lot of schedules to keep track of so it would likely end up being during the summer season. I just have to wrap my head around the price tag. Jenn - I will talk with you about it some more on FB. Thanks to all for your responses.

We just got an amazing deal on the Galveston cruises! It helps that we live in Texas so no airfare. They are pulling out of their Galveston port by Jan 2014 so we got a farewell to Galveston discount. We are doing a 7 night family of four for just a little over $3k
