Lovenox & switching to Heparin at 36wks?
Anyone switch to Heparin at 36wks? I am 34wks today, and will be getting the Heparin called in next week, to start at 36wks. Will also be stopping the aspirin then. I don't believe they come pre-filled like the Lovenox does. The nurse mentioned bringing it in with me so they can teach me how to use it. Any tips? Any advice? Kinda freaked out about having to draw it up myself. TIA!

I did... It's actually not as bad as you think. I actually preferred the heparin to the lovenox. Drawing it up is easy. Just have the doctor show you. As far as the asprin, they should take you off when you go to heparin and then expect to go back to lovenox after delivery for 4-7 weeks.

I switched. You always switch over because heparin has a shorter half life. I was scared for my first shot cause I was used to per filled but it really wasn't that bad. Once you fill one you will be fine.

i was switched when i was admitted at 32w for pre-e. i felt lovenox was way worse than heparin. it doesnt burn nearly as much. i had it done in the hospital 2x a day so i didnt do my own injections or mixing but it wouldnt have bothered me since i did IVF and was used to all the mixing and injects to begin with. honestly if you can do lovenox i wouldnt worry for a second about heparin.
