Selling a house out of state (NJ)
My FIL is trying to sell a house he owns in NJ (Hopatcong). He lives in LI. It looks like he may be selling it as a FSBO. But he will need to get an attorney. My question is does the attorney have to be located in NJ? I know of a few real estate attorneys in NY but I'm assuming they wouldn't do real estate transactions in NJ. Is that correct? Does anyone have any recommendations?
TIA

They would have to be admitted to practice in NJ. Many attorneys in NY are admitted inNj but you'd have to ask.

As the above posted stated, they can be located in NY, just have to be admitted to the NJ Bar. Many RE attorneys in NY and LI are both.
