Please help me choose a cruise!
Which cruise would you choose & why? I should probably mention that we'll have 2 children with us when we go (ages 2 & 4).
Norwegian Jewel 7 days/out of New Orleans Room: Mini-Suite with Balcony (285 sq. ft.) Ports: Cozumel, Mexico; Belize City, Belize; Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras; Costa Maya, Mexico
Royal Caribbean Serenade of the Seas 7 days/out of New Orleans Room: Balcony (189 sq. ft.) Ports: Falmouth, Jamaica; George Town, Grand Cayman; Cozumel, Mexico
Our last cruise was actually on the Jewel & we had a good time. The room was big, but compared to previous cruises, I wasn't really "wowed" by the ship...RCCL's Explorer wowed me in the past lol

Yes - I felt the same way about the Jewel. We had fun, but I wasn't really impressed. Our cruise before that had been on Celebrity and I think they set the benchmark for me when if comes to staff & service - they were phenomenal! We did RCCL the trip before that and the ship was amazing. I felt the Jewel was "eh". We're mainly considering it 1) because of the size of the room...it's nearly 100 sq. bigger for almost the same price! And 2) I've always wanted to go to Belize. That can wait a bit longer though...
Thanks for your input! You're swaying me lol

Re: Please help me choose a cruise!
Tough choice- I like the Ports better on the Norweigan, but I would prefer a RCCL ship.
I'm no help!

Re: Please help me choose a cruise!
I'd go with the one with more room on a cruise with 2 kids! I don't really care for either cruises ports though. I personally don't care for the food on NCL... I feel like they WANT you to go to the other pay restaurants and that bothers me.
I guess for me, I'd go with neither. As much as I love cruises, neither one of those impress me. Sorry if this doesn't help you. I decided against a cruise this yr bc I didn't like my options. Trying an all inclusive instead.

LOL Thanks for your honesty! Have you been to those ports? Is there a reason that you don't like any of them? I'm excited about not doing the same old, same old itinerary that we always do leaving out of NY/NJ...

Re: Please help me choose a cruise!
I haven't been on those ships, but I have been to some of those ports. Roatan has a very nice beach area next to the ship and Grand Cayman was very nice. Belize-you would defiantly would want to do an excursion because the area just outside where the tender drops you off is very poor. Have you thought of maybe an itinerary out of Florida? Those usually go to the Bahamas, Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, Grand Turk and St. Maartan which are all nice ports. HTH

Re: Please help me choose a cruise!
My vote is for NCL because both children could use the camp. RCCL starts at 3

I've been on both the Explorer and Serenade on RCCL. The Serenade is a very nice ship but, smaller than the Explorer but, a little nicer and more manageable.

Re: Please help me choose a cruise!
I'd say RCCL- mostly because I like the ports better. I took a similar NCL cruise with almost the same ports and they did not impress me much.

I vote for the Jewel! I've done both and have been on the Jewel. The itinerary is far better on the Jewel IMO and the food has improved a lot of NCL since we last went on a ship. We did the Gem last week and noticed service was mixed with very good and so so. We were told it was bc they took a lot of the experienced crew off the Gem to put on the Breakaway. It was still a lot of fun though.
