S/O glucose challenge test
So I called this morning to schedule my glucose test. I was told I didn't need an appointment and just to come in... Does that sound right?
ETA my Dr. Just said here is a script please have this done no sooner than a week before your next appointment so we can review the results with you then. He didn't mention anything about eating or not eating. I figured that was something the lab would tell me....I guess not?

every doctor is different, i'm sure it is ok. I had my glucose test this morning, but I also had a doctor's follow up. I got an ultrasound and the whole nine.

Every office/lab handles it differently, though for me personally I always had an appt. You can eat before the 1hr but the 3hr is fasting. I would eat something light and without any carbs or sugar. (eggs, cheese stick ... )

I did it at Quest and I needed a prescription from my doctor. I did not schedule an appointment.

Me too. I went to the one in Flushing for my 1 hour and made an appointment. They take the appointments before they take the walk ins. They asked me if I ate anything and I told them I had a small something, they didn't say anything about that. My 3 hour I went to Glen Cove and made an appt with them too. When my doctor told me to make the 3 hour she told me to fast for that one. She didn't tell me anything for the 1 hour.

I didn't have to schedule my 1 or 3 hr. Both done at Enzo.

I had mine today at my OB's office. I walked in, gulped the yucky drink and at the 1 hr mark had blood drawn. That was it. I was told that I could have breakfast, just nothing too sugary. It's so quick that maybe that's why you don't need an apptmt. But, I'm confused - are you ahving it done at a separate lab or your ob's office? If it's a lab then I'd think you need an apptmt. Quest requires an apptmt for everything.
