Disney: Booking directly or through AAA?

Is there any difference? Is one cheaper than the other?

I just called AAA and both Disney and AAA had the same deal.

I always book through Disney. I prefer to be in control of my reservation 100%. They offer the same deals. AAA has a parking pass that gets you closer if you are driving, but it's still inconvenient at the MK (have to take the tram and then the ferry or monorail).

If you book a time when there are no discounts AAA will give you a better rate than Disney. During promotional periods they offer the same prices.

They also offer exclusive story time daily at Epcot with a character and certain packages get priority seating at the fireworks in magic kingdom

I would not book through disney unless you go whenthere are no discounts (which is rare). Disney discounts are generally better than AAA. They were completely clueless at AAA they messed up our quote the one time I tried to book with them, but switched to the disney discount bc it was a better deal. They made several errors which would have been a pain if I hadn'tcaught them.

AAA is only better in the rare case that there is no Disney discount. Usually once Disney discounts come out they are better.

AAA agents also vary. You can get someone who is extremely knowledgeable about Disney but I have also heard of people encountering AAA "Disney Specialists" who haven't been to the parks in years and really don't know it like someone who lives and breathes it would. They're just the person the agency had do the training.

I am a travel agent with AAA so I can give you the most accurate information.

When there is a promotion with Disney, such as Free Dining or a 30% off discount, we can book those as well. However, you can not "double dip" with your AAA discount. It's one or the other.

With the clients that book with me, if they book a AAA Discounted package (and the discount is usually $200 or 300 less then Disney itself) and then a promotion comes out, I will see which way they get a better deal and change their reservation accordingly. In addition to the discounted rates, we have some pretty nice AAA member benefits that you wouldn't get if you booked directly with Disney.

I am a Disney Specialist, I have taken many, many Disney training courses to further my knowledge as have all my co-workers. Are there some agents that are more knowledgable than others, of course - but you will have that in any type of business or industry. I try to travel to Disney at least once a year with my family but I can't always afford it.

And a little secret....you don't have to be a AAA member to book a AAA discounted Disney package plus you can still take advantage of all the AAA member benefits!
