Thoughts?
DD was conceived via IVF with ICSI. We want to start another cycle soon (age is not on my side). We are going to use the same practice, but I am trying to decide if I want to use the same doctor or the other co-director (my RE is the other one). I feel indebted to my RE because he gave me my beautiful daughter. That said, he has an odd personality. I was often annoyed with him, simply because he lacked warmth. The other RE I'm considering is incredibly warm. I often joke with DH, saying that "[other RE] gives hugs, lollipops, and glitter, while [my RE] gives awkward faces and shrugs."
What would you do? I really feel torn. I trust my RE. I think he's a wonderful doctor who is regularly named to the top REs list (as is the other RE). This isn't a trust issue. It's just a question of whether we return to Dr. Smiles or Dr. Socially Awkward.

Re: Thoughts?
Did he ever make you feel uncomfortable? If he makes you uneasy, then I'd say you should be comfortable. But unless you would leave his office really upset and uncomfortable, I'd stay with the same RE in that practice. He knows you, knows your history, and you aren't there for glitter and lollipops... You are there for a baby, which he gave you!
Good luck!!!!!!

Thoughts?
IMO- It would be more important for me to know that was doctor was successful than to know he had nice bedside manner. My RE wasn't sunshine and rainbows, either. He was to the point and just friendly enough. But he was skilled and got me pregnant fairly quickly.

ITA... the end result is what is most important!

Re: Thoughts?
Do they have a difference in days? I'd say that dr smiles has a better schedule for you. They probably won't care.

This. Granted, while going through an IVF cycle you are seeing this dr. a lot and it's annoying to have to deal with someone that doesn't have a great personality. However, what's most important is the end result. Good luck to you! We're also about to start up a new cycle for DC#2.

Re: Thoughts?
Tough call!!!! Do you think you will be just as successful with the lollipops and huggie doctor? Does he plan to follow the IVF with ICSI protocol?

Thoughts?
I don't know...none of my REs were warm and fuzzy and honestly I didn't care especially since I didn't see them for every visit.

Re: Thoughts?
Thanks so much for the replies. What triggered my question was that, yesterday, I called the office to schedule an appointment. When I called DH to give him the date/time, he questioned why I didn't make the appointment with Dr. Lollipops. That made me second guess my decision.
After thinking about it, and reading your thoughtful replies, I'm going to deal with Dr. Awkward. Medically, I trust him implicitly. A friend (who also used him successfully) calls him "the genius who is probably really bad at parties." I'll deal with his lack of warmth if he can give us the kind of joy he gave us with DD.
