would you tell your mom over skype/facetime?*update

i'm 8 wks pg.

so far, my sister, dad, bff and u guys know. my mom has been in peru since december (the plan is for them to move there in a few years). She's retired and really doesnt have much to do here.

anyway....we havent told her yet. She might come back at the end of this month (but she said the same thing last month) My dad is there now, he's going to spend the next 2 wks with her. I made him promise that he wont tell her, but he thinks I should call on mother's day and tell her.

I kind of wanted to do it in person.

WWYD?

****update!

I called my mom yesterday and told her on the phone. I couldnt get the words out loll started to cry right away. we both got very emotional! she's super excited and very happy for us! what a relief!!!!!!

now i want to tell the world lol

would you tell your mom over skype/facetime?

I would do it over Skype/Facetime since you are not sure if she is coming home and your dad is there.

I would do it over Skype/Facetime.. That's what I was planning with my Father who now lives in San Francisco (all alone, my step mom & sis still live here).... and what I'll do what I get that BFP again.

I would tell, especially since your dad knows and he'll be there with her.

When we told my parents my dad's response was "I knew it!" and my mom got mad b/c she thought he seriously knew before she did. LOL!

Re: would you tell your mom over skype/facetime?

I told my dad over skype (i was about 8 weeks too) because he lives in florida and isn't coming back to NY until memorial day weekend. I really didn't want to wait until like 13 weeks along to bring him into the loop, and he was so excited when we shared the news - it was better than I thought because we could see him and he could see us. I couldn't imagine just telling him over the phone so skype was a great alternative.

I say do it, she'll be very happy!

Definitely do it on mothers day, that will be extra special! Doesn't matter that you're not there in person, it will still be wonderful Chat Icon
and especially because your dad will be with her, i'm sure he'll be bursting with the news and will be glad when you tell her too!

I agree, I would tell my mom on skype or facetime if she wasn't here. If you aren't 100% sure when she is coming home then why wait? It would be special if she was here but at least she can still celebrate with your dad and with technology now you can still see her face and come up with a cute way of telling her.

I'm sure your dad won't say anything but what if he slips or says something and your mom catches on? I would rather my parents both know, but then again my parents can't keep secrets from one another.

Re: would you tell your mom over skype/facetime?

It really depends on your preference. I know how important it is for you to tell her in person, but its Mother's day and what better gift to give her on that special day than letting her know she's going to be a grandma! She's going to be soo happy and your dad will be there with her!!! good luck!!

Re: would you tell your mom over skype/facetime?

My parents live in Alaska so I had to tell them over the phone....it was still super special and exciting! They were the first people we told! Had Skype been an option, (parents are internet challenged) I would have loved to see their faces! But whatever works, you do the best you can! Since skype seems like your best option at this point I say go for it!!! It will be nice for your father to share is joy with his wife while he is visiting!

Glad it went well and that is very sweet that you guys got emotional together!!! It's SO hard to keep a secret like this from loved ones...soon enough you will feel comfortable to tell everyone! And it will give you some time to come up with fun ways to tell people...that's what helped me pass the time.
