If you had to take the glucose test in early pregnancy
Did you also have to fast for it? I was told I had to take the glucose test twice (10 weeks and around 24 week) because there is a history of diabetes in my family. I have horrible morning sickness and am nervous on how I am going to feel. Do you fast for this (early) test as well?

Re: If you had to take the glucose test in early pregnancy
I have a family history of diabetes also and my doc sent me in the first and third trimesters for the glucose test.
I took the 1 hour at 11 weeks or so during my first pregnancy. The test was in the afternoon and I did not fast for it. I failed it and had to take the 3hour, which I did fast for and took early in the morning. I passed the 3 hour.
I took the 1 hour again at 25ish weeks and failed it AGAIN. Went in again for the 3 hour and fasted and passed.
This pregnancy, my doctor was happy to let me go straight for the 3-hour. He said it's more accurate anyway and honestly, I don't have the time to be failing the 1 hour now with a 2 year old. I passed the first one at 12 weeks and just got the script to schedule my second one at my appointment last night. I'm going for the 3hour again. It sucks BIG TIME but like I said before, I don't have time to fail.
My advice, schedule the 1 hour early in the am so that you don't have to "fast" you can just wait until after to eat breakfast. Do drink a glass of water before you drink the sugar. I didn't at one of my 1-hours and the nurse couldn't find my vein.

I fasted for my first one at 14 weeks. Took it again at 26 weeks and was told not to fast. Passed both. Good luck!

If you had to take the glucose test in early pregnancy
I just took one on Saturday when I was about 12 weeks+. Doctor said it wasn't necessary to fast but I did so anyway. Not sure what the results are yet -- my 16w appt. isn't until the end of the month.
Only reason I fasted was because I was going into the lab at like 6:45 a.m. If It was later in the day I wouldn't have made it without food.

Re: If you had to take the glucose test in early pregnancy
I took the 1 and 3 hour already...I think by week 10 perhaps. I am insulin resistant and pre-diabetic.
I fasted for both.
I was very faint after the 3 hour. My blood sugar was 31.
I will take the 3 hour again at 24 weeks.
I had pretty bad MS at the time I took them but somehow I managed to pull through without getting sick. I was nervous I would be.
I have passed both so far as well as my A1C.

Re: If you had to take the glucose test in early pregnancy
Was specifically told not to fast but every time someone asks this ...there's a ton of responses on each side. Ask your dr specifically
