Charlie horse in the middle of the night?
So early on? I'm between 16 and 17 weeks and last night got woken up at least 3 times with charlie horses in different legs each time! Is this normal? I even had a banana yesterday!

Try sleeping with a pillow between your legs! I have woken up so many times (yes, even that early) with leg pains that have kept me up all throughout the night. I find a pillow between my legs works well!

Re: Charlie horse in the middle of the night?
I had one! I had the snoogle and I was using it just for the lower part of my body, so it was between my legs for most of the night!
Actually, now that I think about it I think the cramps happened when my leg slipped off because when they woke me I would lift my leg back onto the pillow and the pain would stop. I just need to figure out how to keep the pillow in place. Apparently I move too much in my sleep!

Ah .. we have a queen bed, me and my dh, and usually 3 out of 4 cats in bed. There's nowhere for that pillow to go!

I am due a day after you. I have been getting them for weeks. My dh bought my the u shape maternity pillow 2 weeks ago. The charlie horse and lower back pain have stopped. I love that pillow!

At one point DH's feet were like up against the snoogle. I blame him, he must have pushed it out from under me

Try drinking more water. I heard dehydration can cause them also.

Re: Charlie horse in the middle of the night?
charlie horse is the worse!!!!!!!!!!!! I had it and I though I was going to die.
Get some potassium in your diet. Once I had to cut back on my banana intake because of gd thats when it came. Then I was allowed to have 1 large and 1 small banana a day and it stopped.
Drink lotssssssssssss of water!!!!

I used to get them too and until this post I never attributed them to the pregnancy!
Sorry I have no words of advice, I would just ask my DH to massage it out.
I drank plenty of water too. Must have been low potassium.

Drink LOTS of water, and add potassium, just like the other girls have said... If they get really bad, I don't know if it's OK during pregnancy (ask your doc) but Tonic water actually helps to alleviate leg cramps like that - the quinine in it helps to reduce the cramping.

try taking magnesium before bed, it also helps alleviate leg/foot cramps. Also another good tip if you get a cramp jump out of bed and put your foot flat on the floor, amazingly it works!

Re: Charlie horse in the middle of the night?
I got a Charlie horse 3 nights ago. It was awful. I was told to be sure I am really hydrated before I go to sleep because baby will continue to suck out my water and nutrients in the middle of the night. I currently drink at least 64oz of water a day and I was told to double it
I think I might turn into a river.

Yes I got them around that time too. Drink lots of water and I try to drink Gatorade here and there to prevent it... It's the worst! My bf knows when I scream, to start massaging it out lol
