I know i need to check with my OB but has anyone ever cruised while pregnant? The cruise line's cutoff is 24 weeks. If calculating correctly, i will be around 20 weeks...

Re: Cruises
Have you ever cruised before?
I ask because DH and I went on our first cruise in Sept for our anniversary. EVERYONE we spoke to said, "Oh, the boat is so big you don't feel a thing!." BS! lol I felt every move and I although I never became sick, I can't even imagine being on a boat right now. Everyone is different but that was just my experience.

OMG I had the same experience.
All of the men in my family are Navy-men so sea-sickness is not an issue for me. However, the motion of the rocking and the movement of the ship (and we were on a HUGE ship) is something I felt at every moment. Now, it didn't make me ill but it made me EXHAUSTED... I mean, to the point where it took a FORKLIFT to get me out of bed to go to dinner. We wanted to do shows and stuff at night - HA!!!!! I couldn't keep my eyes open past 7pm.
It was the worst experience in the world because of how exhausted I felt all of the time and I wasn't pregnant - I can't even IMAGINE going now. OMG. I would DIE. But, everyone is different. My parents think it's great.

Re: Cruises
i cruised on carnival 20wks with dc1. i think the cut off was 22 or 24 weeks but honestly no one even asked. there was another preggo on the ship who looked further along (judging by size)
honestly tho - it was horrible. i was bored out of my mind and wished we just went to a resort someplace. anywhere you dock you will not be able to do most excursions. (pregnancy was the #1 disclaimer) i couldnt walk around because my feet would swell ridiculous from the heat - all the walking made me tired - i was always looking for a bathroom, etc. etc. i felt stuck on the ship. i couldnt drink and party. idk - i wouldnt recommend cruising while preggo. jmho

Re: Cruises
I did a cruise when I was 18 weeks. While I did not get sick, I found it kind of boring since I couldn't do a ton of walking (was so humid) and could not do the excursions. We ended up just sleeping a lot.

I did when I was 16 weeks. It was the first time I had ever been on a cruise. The first day/night I was pretty nauseous but when I woke up the next morning I was fine.

We went on a cruise when I was 24wks. We had a good time, but an all inclusive Caribbean vaca would've been more enjoyable. We were in the room a lot bc I was always tired and sleeping. We should've gotten windows at least. Lol

If you've cruised before, I don't see a problem with it. If you do get a little seasick (and ask your doc about this) but they have those bracelets, and boy do those work! They got rid of my dizziness and everything on my last cruise (not preggo, but felt crappy and the only cruise I've been on where I did feel crappy).

Re: Cruises
We went on a cruise a few years ago when I was 12/13 wks pregnant. It was a 9 night Royal Caribbean cruise which we planned before I got pregnant. Fortunately, I had a very easy first trimester and didn't feel sick at all when I went.
It's funny how different my mindset is now. At the time, I had a SCH and was spotting still when I went on the boat. My doctor told me not to worry and I didn't. These days there's not a chance in hell I'd get on a boat with spotting - or probably at all during a pregnancy but I'm high risk this time so it's different. I say go and enjoy!!! Drink some frozen strawberry lemonade!

Re: Cruises
I am 9 weeks right now and so far so good thank God... i think i should be fine. I have those nausea bracelets which i wear to sleep every night to help with the morning sickness and they are an absolute lifesaver. We plan to make it a family trip so i really would not want to miss it.

I hadn't even thought to wear them for morning sickness!!! I will keep that in mind for when I (finally) get pregnant again (and hopefully don't have another mc). My mom keeps warning me that she was sick from sun up to sun down, from the moment she got the positive test to the time she gave birth. I know for sure that I am a healthier eater and I exercise regularly which my mom didn't do, so hopefully it'll be easier for me anyway, but every tip I am using!

Re: Cruises
my bff just went on a cruise around 20w...it was a weekend cruise out of fl. She enjoyed it but said she was bored by near the end. She also said she was super tempted to eat everything in sight, but tried to stay somewhat healthy.

My friend was about 5 months pregnant on a cruise we took. She was able to do excursions including a Mayan temple tour and a beach day. My DH actually stayed with her for the beach while her DH and I went to swim with the doplhins (DH didn't want to and pregnant women can't).
