Glucose test - almost passed out
Just wanted to share my experience this morning b/c it scared the crap out of me.
I ate dinner late last night (8:30) and then did not eat anything this mrng prior to the test. I drank the glucose drink at the lab at around 9:30. Within 15-20 min I started sweating excessively and then my vision started getting blurry and my ears were ringing. I was so close to passing out. They started fanning me and put cold compresses on my forehead and behind my neck. I was really scared. The lab said its not uncommon but I've never heard of anyone else feeling this way. Has anyone else had this happen?

Re: Glucose test - almost passed out
Happened to my friend, except she puked, peed her pants, and passed out. She had to call her husband to pick her up and then had to redo the test.....

Re: Glucose test - almost passed out
Happened to me after the last draw. I nearly passed out but made it to work and had some juice and felt better. DR called the next day and my sugar level was only 31.

Re: Glucose test - almost passed out
Sounds scary. Probably due to you not eating breakfast. Mine is coming up and I was told to eat breakfast, just nothing too sugary.

Re: Glucose test - almost passed out
This happened to me a few times. I've actually passed out before then woke up and puked all over. (pregnant and not pregnant) Plus not eating before drinking that sugary crap doesn't help

Re: Glucose test - almost passed out
I was like this after my 3 hour (which was really an 'over 4 hour' for me), except it happened on the drive home. Luckily it didn't get bad until I reached my house but I was shaking like a leaf as I walked inside and was afraid I wouldn't make it. I didn't actually pass out but I know I was close. Not sure if it has anything to do with it but I failed and had GD both pregnancies.

Glucose test - almost passed out
Really sorry you had that experience! As I said in my other post, I did it the other day really early on because the doctor is worried about my risk for GD (will have to do it again at 7 months). I actually was surprised the drink wasn't as bad as I remembered it to be. I stopped eating from about 8:15 the night before anyway. Took the test first thing Saturday morning. Doctor also said fasting wasn't necessary but I thought it might make it easier. Made sure to eat the second I got home though!
