paternity days...

my husband has 10 vaca days left for the year.
should he save them all for after the baby comes... OR should we use 3 towards a short vaca now?
I really want him home with me after, but i also feel like i could use a few days OUT OF HERE.
What would you do?

DH is using 2 days this month so we can take a long weekend trip to Cape Cod. Then when the baby comes in August he's taking 2 weeks and part of that will be unpaid b/c he won't have enough vacation days accrued. We'll make due though b/c I feel it's really important.

is he using FMLA for those unpaid days? how does that work? id be willing to do that!

Yes, I believe his job will code it as FML. I'm not really sure how that works though since it will only be a few days.

My dh took off wed-fri when I was in the hospital and the mon tues the following week. That's all I needed him home. I wanted him home later on when DS was fun and we could do things.

If it were DH and I, I'd have him take the 3 days off now.

When the baby is here, it wouldn't impact us THAT much financially for him to miss 3 days of pay. I also think it depends on his job. My job wouldn't care if I missed 3 days of work non-paid. DH's isn't too strict either. Some bosses may care.

I don't believe DH's work offers FMLA. He's just going to use vacation days to take off when the baby arrives.

Yeah its a hard choice. He actually has two extra days but has already put them in for Christmas ...which is super important for him to have off.
i dont think he will be able to get unpaid days without first exhausting those days for xmas...which i dont want him to do. SIGH!
