glucose test
Just scheduled my glucose test and it's around 6PM, I can't eat 2 hours before so I thought morning time would be out.....but my afterthought was whether there's a best time to take it that your blood sugar is naturally lower?
What time of day did you have (or will you have) your glucose test?

glucose test
Crashing - my OB only does them in the morning and says you need to fast from midnight on.

Re: glucose test
I will have mine in the morning. But my doctor's office has different options during the day. I choose morning appts cause they are easier for us. The nurse told me to eat a light breakfast so that's what I am going to do

Re: glucose test
I did mine at 8:30 am. I had dinner and a light snack the night before but then nothing. 6pm would be torture for me because that's around when I eat dinner so I would be starving. You don't want to be at the point where you are so hungry you feel sick or risk passing out

I had it at 3pm and they didn't tell me to fast. I ate totally normally and passed with flying colors.

Re: glucose test
Last time it was mid day Iand tomorrow I'm having it about 1:30. I think the girl was going to try and schedule me early in the day, but mid day works best for appointments for me. I was never told I had to fast - all they said was once I drink the stuff (they give me the drink at my previous appointment and tell me to drink it an hour before I come in) I shouldn't have anything else. They also said to be careful and not eat sugary things or eat a lot. I usualy have breakfast around 8 and figured I would just try to avoid eating anything (maybe I'll bring a cheese stick) later in the morning.

Re: glucose test
This is interesting the varying responses on whether you had to fast and what time of day you went! I'm thinking I'll reschedule to an early morning appointment. They told me not to eat or drink anything for 2 hours prior, except for the fruit punch stuff I have to drink for the test exactly 1 hour prior.

Re: glucose test
For my first one I had it in the morning and I didn't eat anything but the test was early. This time it was in the afternoon and there was no way I was not going to eat so I did. The nurse mentioned that I was suppose to fast but it was too late and I passed anyway.

Re: glucose test
First baby didn't fast the appointment was in the afternoon, passed no problem.
Just got the paperwork for this test, said not to fast, and I just have to go in for the test an hour after I finish the drink.

Re: glucose test
if its the one hour, you dont need to fast, just not eat an hr before, if its the 3 hour then you need to fast, bc part of the test, is a fasting blood sugar.

I think this depends on the OB. Mine gave me instructions to fast for the 1 hour

Re: glucose test
I've had to do it twice now. First at I think 14 weeks... then again at 26 weeks. First time I did it in the morning and I was fasting. I passed. This Monday (26 weeks) I did it in the morning as well but was told specifically not to fast (I would've preferred to as this stupid test terrifies me lol)
Should find out by Monday the latest if I passed or not... Good luck!
