Anyone with Cigna OAP??? - Winthrop/NUMC HELP
Hi everyone! This is my first post on lifamilies! Liweddings helped me so much during my wedding planning so I'm excited for this forum. This is my first child and I'm worried about cost and the facilities.
I currently don't have a doctor. I've been going to my ultrasounds near my job for convenience at St. Lukes Roosevelt. My due date is Sept. 17th.
I'm really interested in a midwife or a hospital with a "unique" birthing environment other than a hospital bed. Hospitals freak me out. I'm just worried what this will cost be out of pocket. My out of pocket max for my insurance is $2500. Is it safe to say I will definitely reach that?
Has anyone delivered in either Winthrop or Nassau University Medical Center and have CIGNA OAP? What was your bill like? Does both the midwife and their affiliated doctor have to be in Cigna's network? or just the doctor?
Also can anyone recommend a midwife for either Winthrop or NUMC?
THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP REALLY APPRECIATE IT!

Re: Anyone with Cigna OAP??? - HELP
I would call Cigna. I went away on vacation while I was pregnant and asked for specific drs and hospitals that were in network. I ended up having to go to the ER while on vacation and one of the drs was not in network, but the hospital was. When the EOB came I called Cigna and they told me that they would take care of it.. so from what they had explained to me if you're using an in network facility, the out of network drs that you may deal with while at the in network place have to accept whatever Cigna is willing to give them. I would just call them directly to confirm that though... Also my perinatologist is out of network but he is willing to accept their in network rate (once my deductible was met), so I just pay my "specialist" copay each time I go... but again, I'd call Cigna to confirm everything.
