New OBGYN concerns

So i had decided to meet w another OBGYN who was closer to home and affiliated with south nassau hospital.

My only concern is- i came from another group where there was 5 doctors in the office, at time of pregnancy you meet with all the different doctors and if your doctor is not available you already met with the doctor who will deliver your baby

This new doctor is a 1 women team, what if i am not the only one in labor at the time? what if she is sick or on vaca?

has anyone ever asked these questions before?

I am looking for some feedback
thanks

Re: New OBGYN concerns

I'm sure that you'd see the doctor that is attending at the time if she was delivering someone at the same exact moment as you, or if she was on vacation, she has a backup that covers her deliveries.

Re: New OBGYN concerns

She definitely has a backup. I know which dr your mean and I never delivered with her - but every doctor (unless they schedule their csections or induce labor just when its convenient for them because on the weekend they have a life and friday is too close to the weekend and mon and thurs they have office hours) then they DEF have a backup plan Chat Icon Chat Icon Her office is great!

New OBGYN concerns

She has a back up actually 3 other doctors may deliver you if she is unavailable. One thing I did not like about the practice is if she is at the hospital doing a delivery your appointment may get reschedule and that's the reason why I left it happened twice.

Re: New OBGYN concerns

If you are talking about Dr. Glasser, then my friend had her but was delivered by the doctor on call, Dr. Dean. He is great but unless you have complications you won't meet him before the day you deliver. I have been in L&D at South Nassau three times had Dr. Dean twice and Dr. Bachman once. Both were very nice. I am a patient of Dr. Oh and Dr. Tomlinson...Hoping Dr. Tomlinson is my doctor the day of....

But back to Dr. Glasser, my friend NEVER saw her in the hospital, not once before or after delivery...which I thought was horrible, but who knows. She is now a patient of Dr. Dean because she liked him so much! Hope that helps!

I go to a practice with 2 OBs. They have other doctors at the hospital that deliver for them if neither is on call. I actually saw 2 of the on call doctors before my doctor came in to deliver. I was nervous about someone I had never met being there during deliver, but they were both very nice and at that point I did not care who got the baby out!!!
