help with morning sickness
I am 7 weeks and for the past 2 weeks I have had horrible morning sickness. I am literally nauseous all day and night. I feel so hungry yet I can stomach nothing. I have tried saltines, ginger ale, ginger candies, sea bands, eating bland things, etc, but nothing is working! Does anyone have any suggestions on things that might help? I have a very active toddler to take care of and I feel like I am losing my mind because I can not even function. Help!

Re: help with morning sickness
Have you tried Gatorade? I had very bad morning sickness that lasted all day with both of my pregnancies. I stick to eating plain toast, cola, Gatorade, plain rolls. Jelly is also good for nausea because of the pectin. If its very bad, your dr can also prescribe some anti nausea meds. It's tough, try to hang in there.

I too tried all of those things and then some and still suffered with it. My doctor gave me Zofran which did not get rid of it completely but did make it more tolerable. I had it from week 5 until week 20. With DS I only had it from late into week 7 until week late into week 14.

Re: help with morning sickness
Nothing worked for me either. Thank god it went away around 13 weeks. I ate nothing but bagels, bread and when I wanted something I ate because I was disgusted by it all.
I just whined my way thru it. Feel better:(

Re: help with morning sickness
Ask your dr for zofran. It was a godsend for me. Before I was on it I could not keep any food or drink down. It was very scary. I feel like I spent the first trimester of my pregnancy throwing my guts up or on the couch. Especially with a toddler you have to get through the day. See how the zofran will work for you.

Have you tried wintogreen mints by lifesavers? That helped me a bit.

eating small meals throughout the day even if its just saltines. your stomach shldnt feel empty. also have saltines or something small by your bedside so you can eat it rght before getting out of bed. also when you get out of bed do it slow sit by the edge for a min or 2.

This isn't so much a food, but a little tip...take your pre-natal at night before you go to bed. I found when I did that instead of in the morning, my nausea was much more under control. Also, what the above tip said...eat something before you get out of bed. Lastly, maybe lemon Italian ices?

Re: help with morning sickness
Thanks everyone! I have also done what a lot of you have already mentioned..mints, taking vitamins at night, having saltines by my bed, etc. Part of the problem is that as soon as I put food in my mouth I basically start to dry heave. The mornings until about 3 pm is pretty unbearable but after that I can usually manage to force something down. I guess I will mention all this to my midwife next week when I have my first appointment.

Re: help with morning sickness
I lived on seltzer, crackers and occasionally powerade or Gatorade...bagels also worked too and they absorbed the acid. Feel better

help with morning sickness
I feel worse when my stomach is empty (morning, mid-day before lunch, night before bed). The only thing that has worked for me has been eating carbs. Heavier foods like that seem to sit better and hold me over to not feeling so sick.
Sounds like you're suffering way worse than I am though so I'm really sorry. I hope you feel better soon. Perhaps the Zofran is the ticket as many others said.

So sorry. Try coke and lemonade too. When I had extreme morning sickness those were 2 drinks that were highly recommended. MS sucks. Hand in there.

Re: help with morning sickness
i am still struggling with this at 13 weeks although it has improved a little. i need to constantly be chewing something. Seltzer has been one of the only liquids i can tolerate. Ice chips work sometimes. Also i find that ice coffee (mostly milk) really helps me in the morning. The coldness seems to help me a lot.
hope it gets better for you soon but you are not alone.

Re: help with morning sickness
I am having bad morning sickness too. For me, ginger ale with real ginger (from Whole Foods - you can really taste the difference) helps and also Earth Mama Angel Baby Morning Sickness tea (can buy online or at Whole Foods). I've used the tea all three of my pregnancies. The other thing that works for me is eating something (no matter how you feel) every two hours when awake (plain almonds with raisins, 1/2 bagel, etc.) just keep your stomach from being empty and letting the acid build up.
