20 Week Appt - What Takes Place? Should DH come?
I've heard that the "anatomy scan" happens at the 20 week appointment. What else typically takes place at this appointment? I'm just trying to decide, since my doctor (who I really want to be the one to see me for this) is only there during morning hours... So, I'm trying to decide if it is absolutely necessary to have DH take off of work and come. Of course he wants to but I want to make sure he only does so for what's important.
I wouldn't go alone instead if he didn't come, either my mom or my sister would come with me. Just wondering what else happens and did you go with DH? Do you think even just the anatomy scan alone is important enough for him to be there? I'm not really 100% sure what the anatomy scan even is.

Have him go to the anatomy scan, it is the best of all the sonos. They look at every part of the baby in detail.

Oh, well that changes everything! He is OBSESSED with seeing the sonograms - he's a science teacher, maybe this is why? IDK but he just loves when I get sonograms. OK, if I tell him that he will INSIST on going.

I would definitely have your DH come with you. It's a long sonogram so you really get to spend time with the baby :)

I would def. Have DH go. It's supposed to be a super long appt and very detailed sono. :)

Call and ask if the anatomy scan will take place that day....if they say yes then he should definitely take off and go!!! That was DH's favorite appointment!!!

Isn't this also when you find out the gender if you're not  ?
DH didn't come to the NT 12w scan and I knew he was disappointed when he heard it was a sonogram and not just the doppler heartbeat.
Even though he's not saying anything I know DH is excited for Monday (when my 20w scan is).

I would bring him! It's the best one!
DH came to the 20 week sono for the first 2, I'm not sure about this one. I'm going to Good Sam MFM for it and I don't want to drag the kids along with me and have no one to watch them at 8am. I think I'm going to ask him to go into work late and watch the kids while I enjoy this one on my own

I'm team green and I'm not finding out the sex which makes this very exciting!!

are you sure this is your anatomy scan? i had to make an appt at another place for mine. and then i also went to my dr.'s office for a regular monthly check up.

I don't think all doctors do sonograms in their office.
I'm choosing to go to Madona for my 20 week since I really like their facility. I'm then going for my reg 20 week check-up the following day at my reg ob. I could have done this the same day all at my docs office.

Same for me. I have my regular 20 week dr.'s appointment in the morning and then the anatomy scan at the hospital later on in the day.
Do you get a sono at the regular dr.'s appointment too?

Definitely have him go with you. Mine was about an hour and a half and you see all the body parts in detail. It's pretty amazing. We also found out the set at that scan so even more DH wanted to be there.

Sorry, I forgot to come back and answer this!
Yes, my doc's office has both a sono tech and sono suite as well as the doctor in the same office. So, my appt. with the sono tech is in the morning with the doc appt immediately following. I did call and check and yes, it is the "anatomy/20 week appt" which they did reiterate is important.
So, with that, now DH and my mom are coming.
We would normally find out the gender at this time too but I went to an outside facility that does the gender reveal sono two weeks sooner because I'm a baby and couldn't wait to find out  so embarrassing.

I agree! Maybe you can go on a different day so he wont have to take off. It is the best sono you will get!

If he can take off this is a good one to go to! I just had mine yesterday, but DH couldn't take off from work 
My OBGYN has a Sono person who does them in office...
