Anyone else's pet super extra protective?

Ozzie has always been protective of me, but it has definitely increased. He literally won't let me out of his sight when I'm home. He watches me cook, dry my hair, he likes to go ahead of me to the bathroom or bedroom and looks around for danger. He barks whenever anyone walks past our door and looks to me like he's making sure I know there's someone there. I think he's gonna end up being this protective of the baby, too! Re: Anyone else's pet super extra protective?

When I had DS my female cat got really protective. She always had to be right next to the baby. We laugh now as we look at photos and you see her or parts of her near him. When I went back to work and my MIL or mom would watch him they told me the cat would follow them around and seemed very protective over the baby. I can't wait to see what she does this with little Chat Icon.
I've heard of dogs being supper protective of their preggo owners and the baby but not cats. Then again I don't think my cat thinks she's a cat.

I was hoping she would but nope. My dear pup still loves to jump on my stomach with all her weight.

Yup our cat actually lol. We have 3 but one of them constantly lays in between my legs & has been like this since the week before our first sonogram. I have pics throughout my pregnancy up until today & he's always in the same spot! Chat Icon Chat Icon

Anyone else's pet super extra protective?

Cosmo got super protective of me when I was pregnant! Whenever we would go for a walk he would bark at all the other animals (which he had never done before) and tried to protect me from them. Now he watches over the baby. Any time he comes in from being outside he immediately comes in and looks for the baby to make sure he's okay. It's really cute!

My cat got territorial which is frustrating because even though he's fixed, he's been marking all over my house. This was a problem before I was PG but now it's increased in recent weeks. :(

I had taken him to the vet back when I was pregnant with DS and the vet said that as soon as you're pregnant, animals know.

I love/d seeing the animals with DS though as he's grown. They definitely have their moments of being terrified of him but otherwise they want to be all over him (except for territorial cat!). I remember when he was first learning how to sit up the dogs would lay behind him so he wouldn't fall over.

Our cat, Avery, has been SUPER lovely dovey the past couple of weeks. She is usually the Queen of the house but I think she knows that a little prince is coming and she is trying to get all the love she can like a "please don't forget about me" way. We love to give her love but she has been ALL over us when we are trying to do things! She still has 10 more weeks but it's nice to see her all "i love you mommy" instead of "mommy move....I want to sit there". HAHA!

As you ask this question my dog is lying right next to the bed and 3 cats surround me. I think they know something is going on but exactly sure what.

Re: Anyone else's pet super extra protective?

Charlotte, my older one, who I'm really closest with actually lays across my belly or right below my belly across my legs. If I tell her no, she will drape herself along the side of my leg - touching the whole time, lol. She never did this before I got pregnant... she would lay near me, but not like this. She is really attached. At night, if I'm sleeping, she will curl up in the curve of my legs or right next to me, in my arms, if I allow her. So, yes, VERY clingy!!!

Reagan, my younger girl, is wired differently than Char - they are just different. We always say Reagan is Vin's dog and Char is mine - because DH is Reagan's "favorite" and I'm Char's "favorite"... because Schnauzers usually love everyone but tend to have a true favorite person.

Char is on the left, she is seven. Reagan is on the right with the fluffy white beard, she is three.

Re: Anyone else's pet super extra protective?

Every night King Leo would lay and spend time with his daddy. That stopped when I got my BFP. The two of them would not leave my side. They loved laying on my belly. When she born Leo would have no problem laying on us while nursing. Ginger would be by my legs. Now that the King is gone Ginger is protective of Tiny Tot. It's to cute.

This is what my Bailey looks like every night while we're watching tv.

But, I don't think he's being protective. I think he's just becoming more needy then he already is!

Well, my cats are not super protective by nature LOL but I do notice my one cat being more drawn to my belly than usual. He's always a mushball but he's so much more so now Chat Icon

Both of mine do this!!

One time the baby did scare my dog, she was sleeping with her head on my stomach and the baby kicked. But I really haven't noticed them being protective or anything.
