HSG tomorrow***UPDATE***
Is there anything special I need to do before it other than the antibiotic I was given?
UPDATE
Well I went in today. Good news is it didn't hurt too bad. I took Advil before I went. Bad news is my right tube is blocked. He didn't give me much more info than that. He said he tried to force it through but it wouldn't open as far as he could tell. My left he was able to push through. I go back on tues for my cd11 appt. I guess we will figure out our next step.

I think no sex? LOL
also, no to some overt the counter meds like ibprofein? I think...
other than that nothing, just prepare mentally - not the comfiest of things

My HSG was not painful at all and I have a history of scarring and a blocked tube! I would take advil or motrin-- my dr told me 400mg two hours before and another 400mg a half hour before- total of 800 mg. Honestly, the worst part was laying on that cold table with legs flat and the speculum in.. just awkward and uncomfortable. The Dr will just have you move on your side to help the dye. Again, I had a blockage and it still was not bad. I made sure I told the Dr that I am sensitive and to work slowly..lol I also yelled at him to push the dye more when he couldn't get the dye through the left tube LOL.. I think he was a bit too gentle!!

as Lillies said, it wasnt painful but uncomfortable. it does feel a bit like IUI, but they were using disposable speculum which was the main source of my discomfort (the metalic ones are so much easier to handle), other than that didnt feel a thing.

Ibuprophen is the generic of advil/mortin.. same thing.. you need something anti-inflammatory. Tylenol is not anti inflammatory so it will not give you the relief you need. They wanted me to avoid sex also the day of and day before. Good luck!! You will be fine!!

HSG tomorrow
I took a pain killer like an hour before hand. My HSG experience wasn't great. You asked if it felt like an IUI. NO....to me an IUI is easy. This was a lot more going on and I had some pain. Everyone has a different experience. Hoping yours goes smoothly.
