Stony Brook Obgyn
So after reading not so great things aboutsuffolk obgyn, I made some more phone calls and saw that so many practices make you see all of the doctors in the practice... I am now looking into stonybrook obgyn... Do they allow you to stay with one dr? Any reviews and doctor recommendations? I would prefer a female doctor!
I called dr Earhart but they only deliver at st Charles and I am leaning toward stonybrook.
I keep reading conflicting things, also... Does Suffolk obgyn deliver at stonybrook?
Thanks!!

Stony Brook obgyn in Setauket/Bohemia? I love all the drs there. I'm sure u could just schedule appointments with your doctor, but in the very good chance that shes not on call when you deliver, you'll be with a total stranger.

I use stony brook and love them!!! I generally see dr. Lochner who is a female but I've also seen Welicher (female ) as well as Porte and O'keefe who are men. Every single one of them are fabulous. I usually schedule with lochner but now that I have to go twice a week and am still working it is harder to get appts with just her.

Re: Stony Brook Obgyn
Let me preface this with saying I LOVE ALL of the Drs there (except one). I still go after the birth of my children.
HOWEVER, with that said, I am STILL years later, REALLY pissed. With 5 or so Drs, NONE of them were on call on an average Tues night when I delivered my last child. NONE OF THEM. They had someone covering from another practice, fine....but then the covering Dr had a csection with one of her own patients so I ended up delivering with the backup to her. I was THREE Drs removed from my own.
Normally, I would be all, fine these things happen, but since I delivered my last, I have spoken to FOUR other women who this happened too.
What pisses me off the most is that at my last appt before delivery one of the Drs was giving me the "on call schedule" and for the day I ended up delivering the Dr said, "well, Im not sure who is on call that day, but I guess you'll find out." I assumed that at least ONE of them was on call but in hindsight on honestly believe the Dr knew but didn't tell me that no one was on call that day,
Additionally, what REALLY REALLY REALLY pisses me off (and I won't see one of the Drs there bc of this), I had life threatening complications after delivery (not related to the attending delivering). I delivered at 9:45 PM, the Dr at the practice was on call starting at 12am. At 1am I was still dealing with the complications and had literally 10 other Drs (from other depts, as my issue was with my heart) and nurses in and out of my room and the Dr from the practice came on at 1am, didn't stop in for TWO hours afterwards.
THAT pissed me off the most, like really, one of YOUR patients just had a baby, is now having life threatening complications, I KNOW you are here and you can't stop in for 2 hours????????
I am not NOT recommending them bc they really were wonderful the entire time and like I said, I still go now, but won't see that ONE Dr. BUT I would ask about the on call schedule.
Im sorry to be such a negative nellie, but I do really think it is worth mentioning since this practice came so highly recommended but I just want you to have my story as another side. I hope that I was the exception to the norm.

I went there for my first prenatal appt, and loved it! I went to the setauket office, but will be going to the bohemia appt next week for my NT scan. They do make you see all the doctors which I am totally ok with.
They also take GHI!
ETA: they do deliver at SB

So is it that most practices make you see all of the doctors? I understand why they do it it's just that I would like a primary doctor that will really get to know me. This is so frustrating!

I agree about having one primary doctor that really gets to know you but I have to say that I've never felt that they didn't know me. I've had some major complications the last few weeks which have resulting in having to be seen twice a week and each doctor is well informed of what is going on and I've never felt like I had to explain my "situation" to them.
They also so all their sonos there and take GHI.
